ebay selling advice

Hi all Thumbs Up

I have been selling a car on ebay for the past day, but did not put a buy it now on.
Would it be too late to put one on now?, as a friend said that a lot of people who bid dont buy, and with a buy it now the buyer would be genuine.
I have received offers around £250 and wanted to put a buy it now of £300, as my wife goes away to hungary on sunday and needs the money from the car so we wont have time to relist.
What do you lot think?

Someone winning the auction with 'buy it now' is not going to be any more genuine or false as someone winning a conventional auction.

My main question was, is it ok to put a buy it now after a day and some received bids?.
I think what my friend was getting at is that with a buy it now people will make the trip to view the car and decide if they want it, but if it is just the winning bidder i am limited to just that one person and have to hope that they are genuine. Smile

I don't think you can put a buy it now on after the auction has started. In fact, when we had a bike up for sale I put a buy it now on at the start of the sale so people could see what sort of money I wanted for it, and it disappeared after the first bid! Ebay said at the time that was normal practice, I haven't bothered selling anything big since.....

If there is no reserve price or the bid exceeds the reserve price, the BIN function disappears. Pretty stupid IMO.

Once there is a bid the buy it now price dissapears (unless you have a reserve and the max bid is less than the reserve). So you can't add one now anyway.

If you have a specific bidder lined up, you could cancel the auction and start it again with a buy it now price that you have agreed beforehand.
