It comes to something when I am shocked at what I see here on BCF. The posts currently in General Chat regarding the protests about the cartoons published, really sadden me. Not just that, actually they anger me too if I'm honest.

Calls for Arab goods to be banned, angry posts calling Muslims dirty, dishonest etc etc. Seriously, what sort of fucking morons have taken over this place recently? please, sort yourselves out and stop reading the Sun/Daily Mail etc.

If you'd actually seen the news (and not just the main channels coverage or tabloids) then you will also have seen Muslim leaders condeming these idiots who are protesting. Infact Muslim leaders were at these protests arguing with the few that are going mental.
You cannot judge every Muslim by the actions of a very small minority, particularly a minority that are condemned by their own.

Please, wake up and smell the coffee. The US, UK etc are currently arguing with (and destroying) countries in the Middle East. You must have noticed what a coincedence it is that these recent events have occured when public opinion of invasions has plummeted.

Now how about we have some tolerance, show some brains for a change and all grow the fuck up.

Thumbs Up

Some people are coming up with debatable posts, other just resort to insults, BCF believes in freedom of speech and that’s how it goes.
Kris, feel free to name and shame the few members who you are talking about so I don’t think you’re generalising about the whole forum.

Yes you make a valid point up to a part.

Quote:
Calls for Arab goods to be banned,

Of course Muslims wouldnt think of calling for any banns would they ?

Quote:
angry posts calling Muslims dirty, dishonest etc etc

And no muslims are walking through the streets of most countrys in Europe asking for none muslims to be killed, murdered, executed,

Quote:
what sort of fucking morons have taken over this place recently?

Not the type that are calling for 9/11 again and not the type calling for 7/7 either, the type i suspect are the people who are angry at being told what they can say and cant do in there own country, or arnt they allowed to say anything back to the threats?

My point is if you read the threads all the way through people are angry at being told what they can and cant do by a religeon that says it is peacfull but cant sit down and talk but has to destroy mame and murder.
I fully understand that this is not all Muslims but what are the real Muslims doing to stop these idiots doing it the name of Islam? they say they are calling for peace, ok so the people who have killed and destroyed will never be held accountable.

My 2 pennys worth on your post m8

Good post Kris. Thumbs Up I really hope that the silent majority do feel similarly as it is plain depressing reading a lot of these recent posts.

As far as I'm concerned the reactionary, intolerant remarks here are very much in line with the extreme behaviour of those who are on the other side of the fence. These cartoons clearly go very much against the grain for muslims, but whatever the media may try to convey, it is only a minority of them taking an 'extremist' approach to the situation.

Bad enough that we are now literally surrounded in the streets by foreigners speaking unintelligible languages and poncing all our cash via benefits, now we have to bend over for them and their constant whining demands for special treatment and consideration.

Enough is enough. I used to be about as anti-british and pro-minority a person as you could hope to meet. Anti US, anti govt, pro immigration, pro freedom of religion, payback time for all our past colonial atrocities...now I've had enough.

Our hospitality and sense of good-natured fair-play has been abused beyond the pale. It's time to stop the rot.

Considering your aversion to all things big and corporate Siggi, I'm surprised at how happy you are to accept the version of events that the media portray.

If you can put aside for just one minute your lack of respect for religion - imagine that someone had done something which had gone completely against your views of what is and is not acceptable. Something utterly repulsive and offensive to your very core. If I know you at all, you'd probably be at the very front of the protests and would probably be pretty match-happy too.

My point is, these cartoons apparently place many muslims in that situation, but it remains the case that only a small minority are reacting this way.

You're plenty smart enough to realise that people are different whatever their faith, so why do you insist on lumping them all together?

Some learned people can remember the root causes of the war in Kosovo. If Britain doesn't look out for itself we will go the same way.

Lets face it kris if this was a random protest or maybe even one embassy attack you could have claimed it was a small minority but this is well past this point.

What we are seeing is that islam around the world has more than a minority involved with extremists views more likely i would say that nearly half of all muslims are leaning towards the extremists.

If you want to talk about minority you will see its the minority who are actually speaking out againist the protests as it is now they have the majority of support of muslims around the world.

As you said 'wake up and smell the coffee' well i think the british public are.
They are seeing how the so called muslim leaders who you say are against the protests are really the problem.

They as religious leaders are unable to separate religion from politics, they are obsessed with religion, politics, war( terrorism).

There are ordinary muslims who go to work pray and so on, but its a pity their leaders are religious nutcases and their press is bigotry/anti-west and obsessed with the purity of muslims and segregation from western culture (even though they live in the west)

As much as generalising against all Muslims in general is a bad ting, I feel that the way a number of them who are calling for the execution of people poking fun at their religion is heavy handed to say the least. As a predominently Christian country (as Siggi said) we are a lot more tolerant towards their rleigion and lifestyle than they would ever be towards ours. I've been to Arab countries and been forced to cover up even though it's been absolutely roatsing out of respect for their religion, and what do we do here? Pass legislations allowing them to wear turbans and head scarves because it makes them happy. Fair enough, we're lenient, but it's not as though we get the same treatment when we're daytripping in the Middle East, is it?
We don't like extremist Muslims kidnapping people because all told, Allah condemns the war we're fighting (but thats a whole different story!) and that's quite frankly upsetting. We'd be quite in our rights to kick off about it and protest, in fact. But being the type of people we are, we approach the government and try to settle things diplomatically. Half these people don't want to do it the 'right' way, or the 'peaceful' way, they have a view and they want is enforced whatever the cost.

The amusing aspect is the supposedly anti-religious posters seem to be far more extreme and rabidly frothing (fundamentalist almost...) than almost anyone else I've met Laughing

Surely all the same apply's to the people posting as well?

How many members of BCF are actually posting on these subjects, compared to the amount of members there are?

EDIT: Alternatively it could be that these people are representative of the majority of British people. What then?

I wish people would stop beating around the bush and come clean if you want to have a pop at someone or you disagree with someone then say so.

Stop using words like BCF members or these people.

Name names or say nothing Exclamation

While I agree that there is still some racism in the UK I think England is still one of the most tolerant countries in the world. Maybe more should be made of that!
A lot of problems are caused in my view by the "media" in all countries. They take relatively minor issues and sensationalise them until they get a reaction from a minority who will want to fight no matter what we do to appease them.

Yep good. So I would argue that is also true of the majority of foreign people who come to this country.

How does all this effect you as a person, because i see all this on the news & don't really pay attention to it all, they don't effect me. If they keep coming into our country then let the government sort that out, unless they actually did somthing that effected me then i might pay attention. I just get on with my life. But i would like to know how it effects others.

What's interesting is that the guy who famously wore a suicide bombers' outfit yesterday or whenever, apologised publicly today. In his statement he said he wasn't condoning terrorist attacks and thought the July 7th attacks were a travesty, and that he was simply practising free speech.

He has an interesting point, doesn't he? Tit for tat, the Danish papers practised free speech; so did he. Who are we to silence them after these cartoons? They went mental over them and we say 'shut the hell up, they're only cartoons'. But when they stick up banners saying 'death to Europe' etc, we have a similar reaction. Granted, the tone is slightly different, but it would be interesting to hear the voices behind those banners. If they were similar to that of the suicide bomber costumed guy, it would put a slightly less oppressive spin on everything.

Dismay at BCF ?

Not me, I think it's quiet refreshing to see people speak as they feel and not feel that they have to hold back just incase they upset someone.

What does grate me somewhat is some saying, I dont give a fuck, it doesnt bother me or affect me so who cares, It's tossers like such that virtually give every other,,..,, possibly unwelcome minority a free pass in, it may not have a direct affect on you now but you wait and watch.
