What speed do you think you should start to hide behind the scree, or hug the tank in order to streamline?

Feel a bit conscious hugging the tank at less than 70mph, find it easy way to keep front wheel on road when nailing the throttle at speed.

I feel a lot more stable at speed when hiding, but do you think you look like a twat to other road users?

i do it at 10 mph! Rolling Eyes Laughing
actually today was my first day of hugging the tank like it had breasts.
it was actually worse than normal as it was noiser as my head was in the air flow above the top of the screen
i would say 70 mph minimum

110mph + gets a little too windy so usually then.

Might treat my self to a double bubble screen Thinking

lying flat on tank toady, going 90ish and still accelerating, was nt really concentrating as getting lazy log from speed, didn't realise cars in front had hit the anchors. Good job sitting up is like an air brake Shocked

When I go above 90 I find that lying on the tank is a lot comfier and the extra wind blast takes weight off your wrists. Whenever I sit properly - arse up head down its actually natural to be tucked right in.

Generally a good idea to start ducking down when your nose starts pressing against the inside of your visor. Laughing

When you tuck right in do you look through the screen or still look over it?

I can sit at about 115 comfortably, anything above that i have to start ducking down a bit.

I only put my head right under the screen when i'm going for top speed.

I think I look through a bit of both, probably still lokking through visor.

Of course cant see a damn thing behind Confused

Bike scared the shit out of me yesterday Embarassed For the first time, I cranked the throttle through the rev range in the low gears, feck me, the torque and power once the revs get up to >8,000rpm. Flying down the slip roads onto dual carrageways, hugging the tank was all I could do to hold on Twisted Evil

Still a bit chicken to really go for it at moment, I dont think that'll last though Middle Finger

When you're going fast enough to justify having to hide behind the screen you shouldnt be looking behind you Karma

Above about 65mph is when the aerodynamic drag starts to become a big deal. You can feel the windblast getting worse and worse faster and faster above that speed; between 0-50 it isn't really so noticeable. With a tankbag on it isn't feasible to crouch so far, I feel a bit like a parachute hanging on above 70. Confused

I tuck in when the bike stops pulling, so on the cbr thats 140 ish.

On the hartford legion that was at about 50 odd lol.

If you're on a busa or something equally over powered, you wouldnt NEED to until about 170 ish.

Lets not forget, you LOOK slower when you are sitting up.

I don't derive my tucking in time from speed. Depends on weather conditions as well. Windy conditions, pouring rain, etc will have me behind the screen by 50mph. Hail a little bit slower.

On a general rideout I doubt I tuck down at much under the ton and only find myself doing it on bypasses/motorways. I guess my double bubble screen as got a part to play in that.
