North Sea Ferries go to Rotterdam daily overnight sailing.
Prices are all over the place depending on if you want uncomfortable chair or cabin - also vary for Season too.
It's easy to navigate to Amsterdam but a bit of a shock as you seem to come straight into a busy urban motorway system within miutes of leaving the port in Rotterdam!
It's less than two hours ride to Amsterdam.

Try these people - https://www.motorsport-travel.com/.

A quick check shows around £230 for 2 people, 1 cabin, meals and 1 motorcycle.

At least that gives you a figure to beat. MCN usual posts a discount code to use for booking. Haven't come across one recently, maybe someone else can help? I'm never quite sure if this does save you anything though. From memory on the North Sea ferries you can pay as much for your meals as you do for accommodation. Having said that the new ferries are massive, comfortable, quiet and IMO worth it.

HTH Thumbs Up

If you want to go straight to Amsterdam, I believe you have to go from Newcastle, Hull goes to Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.

It should be less than £100 return, but then I haven't done it myself so I'm not 100% certain. The crossing time is about 10 hours.

https://www.directferries.co.uk/ is what I used for a price check.

In all honesty, if you are just going to Amsterdam, you would be as well just leaving the bike chained up at Hull and taking the ferry across. You can get a bus into Amsterdam railway station from the ferry port. Once there, pretty much anything worth seeing/doing can be done on foot. Cheaper and easier that way.

Failing that, you can buy a second hand bicycle for around £20 and just leave it lying against the railings when you leave (they go round and collect abandoned ones periodically by putting a sticker on all bikes, if it is still there a fortnight later they cut the chains off and people take them).

Having been there, I imagine Amsterdam would be an absolute nightmare to ride a motorbike round, all cycle lanes, tram lines and stoned British students.

Hi there, a mate and I are planning a Europe trip and looked at Hull-Rotterdam for the route home. However it was quite expensive. We have decided to do the Eurotunnel instead there and back.

FYI using that link a quick check for 2 people, 1 motorcycle travelling in March came out at between £312 and £334 (depends on cabin choice). Bit of a price as the cover page says from £79 (but I guess that's maybe 1 person, no vehicle and no accomodation?). Journey time is 16 hours.

Guess depends when you want to travel and as with the P&O North Sea, what accomodation you want.

Thumbs Up good suggestion. The multi storey car park in Hull did appear to be supervised and had a security gate that got closed when not embarking/disembarking passengers. From what I remember free if using the ferry. Unless someone's meeting you at the other side you may have to book a place on the bus though from the ferry into Amsterdam (and back).

They are prefectly happy for you to crash-out on the sofas in the lounge bar. I even took a couple of the cushions off and put them on the floor then got in my sleeping bag last time I went. Saves money on a cabin Wink

The £96 I got was for 1 person, 1 motorcycle, in a cabin with breakfast each way. I've no idea how many people would be going.

Interesting, what date(s) and what cabin choice did you use? I'm getting £190 for 1 person, 1 motorcycle, 1 berth cabin Confused Sad

I can't seem to get it back again now. Mad Thumbs Down They don't let you have 1 berth cabins either from the looks of it on the ferry I was trying, nor choose not to take a cabin at all.

I'm fairly certain that I didn't have single journey selected and that I just used the sandard 2 berth cabins, but I can't even get the price consistent now. There seems to be a fair variation according to which day of the week you want too.

I've been there too and can only echo these comments. Additionally you really have to have some idea of road rules there as it seems like everybody drives like a loony in Amsterdam. Very Happy
