The polishing bug has bitten me! Laughing

I've spent the best part of my exam leave pissing about at home and i've been wondering whether to tidy my bike up after my moderate crash damage last year. In short, this is there result.

A rather garish paint scheme which looks good from afar but shit close up purely because i had to paint the thing whilst the fairings were on the bike - Don't tell me that you can extract furred up, rounded off allen bolts! If you can't send a stamped address envelope to "i am eternally grateful - P.O. Box..."

The polishing was fun as i was pissing about with wet and dry paper to get off the powder coat, then i re-read JonB 5's thread and found out what Nitro Mors was! (Thanks Jordan!). Also, never try to use the thing at 9PM. The result is that shit going into a flesh wound caused when your little finger has been deskinned; that in itself was caused by a rather clumsy mate of mine who thought it was appropriate to turn the crank of the V8 over whilst i was checking if it was seated on the bearings properly - the answer was yes it was + a lot of blood.

Anyway, apart from the aside, here's the pics - also if any body has any surf skate stickers i pairs, i'd love to get some.

Peace out

Titot

Haha, reason why i put the numberboard there was because there was a massive void caused when i removed the "Ninja" stickers. I didn't want anybody getting confused that it was a ninja because it ISN'T!

I'm getting autosol tomorrow to finish off the polishing process; and i might order some more vinyls off my parents in indonesia - only 10-20p a shot and it's decent quality stuff. Had loads on my XR and that lasted about 3 years because prior to having it on the XR, it was stuck on my dad's NRG.

Spraying it black sucks. I'm not really going to give it a decent paint job because i have a feeling the bike's not going to be sold and i don't really care about wasting much money on a pro job. I spent in total 20 quid doing all that, whcih would be about the same price as a getting it done black.

Besides, red and white are my 2006 colours - most of the clothing i've bought this year are those colours - Embarassed Damn, that makes me a tart then!

I used err nitro mors to remove the old paint and 800 grit wet and dry to bring it down to one level. The upper half i.e. tank and upper fairing is all that's left of the original paint. What's gay is the fact that the masking tape peels off the previous layer of paint when i did the numberboard which sucked big time. I also had to redo the white cheatline because it looked perfect, until masking tape came off. So it's now adviseable to use a scalpel or knife to score along the line of the masking tape/paint boudary and wet it to remove the adhesion.

If i had been patient, i would have used a compressor and air gun, but i had a 1 week void to do absolutely nothing in, so this occupied my time.

I reckon it'll get better through time. I can see myself doing a proper job if i can take the fairings off. my next bike might have some traditional Javanese Batik paint scheme - that'll look like the dogs nuts although i'd need a suitable paint as i know watercolours will not take the lacquer and neither will oil pastels.
