Just about to order a leo vince ZX, but i'm pretty sure no rollers are included.
What size do i need?
Its a 2004 LC NRG with a CAT.
Also, will i need a bigger jet for the carb, if so what size? and will it need clutch springs to increase performance of the exhaust and so on? again, which size / type.

Oh, and should i order a gasket for it too?

Cheers
David

4,7 mate should be a good balance for top end and taking off speed.

i dont think you will need to touch the clutch springs as i doubt your belt will silp with just a new exhaust and not sure about a jet as your e ngine might be fine

I meant size as in diameter and so on - Got them now anyway.
What about the clutch springs and jet if needed?
I may have to remove / block off the cat system too so i will ned a biger jet anyway.

hi m8

leo vince zx pipes should come with the correct clutch springs and rollers to give u and even spread of performance- dont be fooled as some dealers may order it for you and charge u extra for the accesories that should be free!

edit: i took the liberty of checking out leo vince webpage and as i thought here is a direct quote from the zx's description

''The kit also contains a set of springs and rollers to boost the variator performance according to the particular features of the exhaust and engine for which it has been developed''

personally i wouldnt bother with the jetting until you go further up the tuning route ie 70cc etc as jetting can be a complete pain in the arse so get right especially with UK weather as one day it could be blazing hot and it feels perfect then it could rain and the scoot will run like a bag of shit!

good luck wid the pipe tho, its a nice starter pipe!

Yeah, i know that about the rollers and so on, BUT, the pipe is only £80 on sip-scooters (Chrome one) so i would imagine nothing with them, as a shop said earlier, apparently they no longer come with them as all people have different rollers and so on or something!
Jetting will need doing, as the CAT will have to be blocked off or removed (pref blocked).

Cheers

the CAT is in ya standard exhaust system m8, u wont have to tackle that if you are replacing it, so no need for re-jetting, thats the main benefit of ditching the stock pipe for a performance pipe!! ive checked on my old favourite tuning site which was www.scooter-attack.com and although it is based in germany they r widely regarded as a the top tuning site for scooters, ive gone to your paticular bike in their shop and looked up the ZX pipe, and suprise, suprise they supply springs and rollers with it for the total price of £79 and shippin ontop at £5 so £84 for a zx supplied with rollers and springs-thats a deal! when i used to order them turn around on my orders was about a week door to door which was great service and if you have any question mathias is a quality bloke who will reply within hours to 99% of ya probs! god knows he helped me through loads of problems!

Yeah, but with the CAT, it goes into the carb and will need blocking or removing, to which i was told, in a previous thread on here, that it would need upjetting?
I will try without upjetting i suppose and see what happens?

i always knew the CAT to be the CATALYTIC CONVERTOR in your exhaust system and ive never heard of it being anything to do with your carb what so ever so my general feeling is that you are being told a bunch of crap to obtain your business!

if you are planning to change your exhaust id go with scooter attack for £84 delivered as that supplies you with everything needed to get a lil more out ya ped!

The CAT isn't actually a catalytic converter.
Its more an air recirc system (me calling it a CAT is most probably wrong), Therefore it does actually go through the carb.
I'm assuming i can just block it up when i take the pipe off of my original exhaust.
But i'm unsure as to whether it will still need upjetting.

Sorry for leading you the wrong way about this Confused

if it has a carb on it m8 then honestly you wont need to mess with anything but the rollers and springs for a exhaust upgrade. i had a chat with a friend and he said to me if he has the computer operated direct injection version of the NRG then alterations would need to be made to the injection unit but they are done by flashing the ECU with different software(much the same as the APRILIA DiTECH models) for it to cope with the increased pressure via the new pipe but if you difinately have a carbed model this does not apply to you at all so go ahead and fit the pipe with the rollers and springs supplied!

Sounds lucky to me, as flashing the ECU sounds expensive!
Cheers mate.

Thats true, but, new technology always goes wrong though!
Ah well, i prefer the carbed version - I know a bit about them so can make myself look clever Cool

Figured that out, but its £91, rather than the £80 on sip-scooters.

Your thinking of a variator spring.....they compress the two rear pulley's (behind the clutch) onto the belt, belt slipage is normally due to roller's being too light, instead of increasing roller weights you fit a looser variator spring.
Clutch springs simply determine the revs at wich the clutch engages.
The stiffer the springs the more rev's it takes to pull off. This can be useful by letting the engine rev up more and getting some momentum before placing a load on it.
Lightened flywheel's often require stiffer clutch springs as they give the enigine less momentum but more acceleration.
Same applies to exhausts developed for a high power band. i.e max power produced at 6-8000rpm.

So what you just said about max power produced at 6-8000 rpm.. would that mean that instead of doing 55 mph at 10,000 rpm, i would do it at lower revs? so even though i have no more throttle and no more speed, its revving the engine less?
or have i got it all wrong?
