How to get rid of oil patches?

what can i do to remove some oil from tarmac ive spilt alot of it and need to clean it up!

cat litter to remove the large bits, and then a pressure washer to remove the stain.

You could try degreaser, but I can't guarantee it won't damage your driveway.

Oil on tarmac is tricky. The tarmac is oil based so pouring oil on it will start to break it up. By all means use the ideas suggested but be prepared to loose some of the surface.

When I've worked on the bike at my folks place and spilt oil in the garage/driveway my Mum always puts washing powder on it and then washes it away a few days later and it seems to do the trick. Thumbs Up

In my motorycle garage, there's a sand box in case we spill oil. The sand causes the oil to agglomorate and can be easily swept away. Anything absorbant or porous seems to do the trick.

I use washing powder for older stains, but if it's still quite new t'other half says damp newspaper placed on top of the oily bit then pressed down will pick most of it up.

TFR (Traffic Film Remover) and a stif yard brush then pressure wash it off or use brake and clutch cleaner as it breaks up the oil but thats an expensive way of doing it

Whatever you do, don't use degreasers like 'gunk'. Lifts the tarmac.

As said, sprinkle cheap cat litter on it, leave to soak for a while then sweep it up.

throw some water down and drizzle fairy liquid down over the patches - scrub with a hard bristle brust until foaming and it will disperse the oil

the instant the fairy liquid touches the oil you will see the oil disperse and the colours (from the oil) will dissapear!!!

done it on the drive a few times

works a treat

I used dishwasher powder. It got rid of the oil, but made a part of the driveway go copper green for a while. A couple of days solid rain seemed to get rid of that though.

I was watching this stunt motorbike show.

They where doing tricks on sports bikes like wheelies and stuff but they grew concerned about this big bit of oil in the middle of there "play area"

So they poured petrol over it, set it alight and it burned it all away, dont no what your neighbours would think but would be fun to try even if it did work Very Happy
