I bought a Caberg v2 helmet from CMC motorcycles in Chesterfield, the guy who worked there said it was a good all round helmet.
When i told some friends who own bikes about it, they said they had never heard of Caberg, and laughed at me for buying it? Rolling Eyes
Are they ok helmets, it looks ok to me

Is it a flip front one?

If they haven't heard of it, then I would question their laughing.

They are 'budget' helmets generally, but acceptable quality at least, I think.

The important thing for the mo is that it fits you well.

Some Caberg flippy bits aren't so strong I've got a feeling.

May only be the older ones, but I seem to remember some had to be tested as an open face helmet because the chin protection wasn't good enough.

Not sure on the details, suspect google may help Smile.

The V2 is the full face helmet, not the flip front

Main advantages are the price and of course the inner visor (why I have one)

Disadvantages include shit loads of wind noise, the size of a house and some say its heavy?

isn't the V2 the full face one with the built in dark visor?

there's been a couple of threads about that lid, general opinion seems pretty good. I've tried one on, seemed pretty good for a £90 helmet.

Someone (I can't remember who) has even crash tested on, came off OK, but the inner visor caused a broken nose.

I had one and found it to be two heavy and soar on the neck after a long ride. The helmet would be find if you are in an up right position. I bought a Shoei, a lot more money but i think it is worth it, dont get me wrong i am on the bike everyday.

Just as the previous reply, I found mine heavy and uncomfortable when worn for a long ride, made my neck ache something rotten. I also found it very noisy, I couldn't wear it without earplugs.
I've since moved on to an AGV, nice and light and very quiet.

Everyones opinion is different you must understand. I love my old caberg J1+. Not too noisy, nice and warm and fits well. And it cost me less than £99.

Personally, I'd be laughing at all your mates that buy the racer replica lids or who spend £400+ on a bloody lid. Posers. Rolling Eyes Very Happy

I've got a nolan VPS Classic flip face

Its quiet when on the road, comfy and my glasses fit well in it.

Also got that dark visor that slides down on top of the normal visor giving you the buck rodgers look

I've had a V2 since october and although its my first helmet and dont have much to compare it to, i find mine very comfy. Wind noise is there but not loud enuff to justify ear plugs. I dont know if it is overly heavy compared to others, but i just thought my aching neck and shoulders was probably due to my riding position.

(btw does anyone have any tips for riding positions that feel more relaxed? Ive stated to sit further back in my seat and relax my arms more, but i tend to slide forward again and find im back to my old position Confused )

I found that moving further back in the seat, cornering was suddenly made easier and took a lot of pressure off of my hands Laughing Sliding forwar is still a problem Embarassed

I got the Caberg V2, dont mind it. Doesnt seem much havier than any of my mates lids who spent £200+.

Build in inner visor works ok.

I should be getting a new lid soon as ive droped this one and would like a new one anyway. Will keep it as a winter helmet probably, basically because ican use the tinted visor in the sun, but when it gets dark early you just switch with a flick of a button and its a normal helmet. Sure beats carrying a spare around! Thumbs Up

Did you get it locally? I'll be after a new lid soon. How much did it dent your wallet?

Have had 1 for about a year, I don't find it too heavy and the built in tinted visor is much easier than having to stop and swap them over. Thumbs Up

Yeah I've got one of those caberg one with the flip up front. I have found that theres a fair bit of wind noise with it but other than that can't really fault it. Only use the flip front to get it on really as with a normal helmet I can never seem to get my head into the bloody things. Rolling Eyes

The caberg flip front was the one recommended to me by my DAS instructor last, if it's good enough for an instructor should be good enough for everyone. That said I've now gone and got a Shark, which is quieter for long journeys, but the Caberg remains a favorite especially when its a sunny day so that i dont have to take 2 sets of glasses or a spare visor which is handy as many of my current ride outs don't finish till well after dark.

I have to admit my Cabery is quite noisy at speeds over 50mph where the can roar disappears for wind

Well ive had one the last three years (more or less every day, so its due changeing!) and its very good..

It is noisey, it is heavy, but neither bother me (ear plugs and a reasonably strong neck) but as i wear glasses at the moment its allot less hassle, and handy on a rideout to flip it up so people can hear what your saying..

A not so long ago magazine report with flip helmets (£100 up to £500), they showed that the other helmets were no better at all in a crash test than the caberg... only noteing they were slightly heavyer (on accound of the metal lugs e.t.c.) and noiseyer (which most flip helmets are)

Its worth noteing that ALL flip helmets in the event of landing on your face will rip open, most of the force will be take by that initaial hit, but still...

If i get contacts i'll get another normal helmet, if not all get another caberg...

Am affrid your friends have no idea, they are a very well known brand, when they have no money after spending £400 on a helmet thats no better, you can laugh at them Wink
