Hi,
I've seen for sale an SV650.
It's an 05 plate, so the current model, the only downer I've noticed is that it's got 18,000 miles on the clock and only part history...
I think I've just answered my own question...

Depends on the price.
If it wasn't in Scotland I would have got 2k model, 12k miler, a few scratches but also some spares for £1250.
There's a 47k miler that I've been offered for £1.1k and if someoen else doesn't get it I'm also tempted by a 20k miler with a dead engine for £850.
Have you looked on forums.sv650.org (Though no buying any bikes I want )?
Remember there's little real world difference between the pointy and curvy ones apart from the better looks of the former. |

I said former reffering to the first thing I said - ie the pointy .
However, I can appreciate the looks of the older one - when I was 16 or so I can remember reading reviews of the TL1000 and thinking 'wow' - so always quite liked them and the curvy SV is kinda similar, abiet a bit toned down and not quite 'there' for me .
Imay end up with full race fairings on my road one anyway. |

i would say if its serviced 18,000 would be fine, plus cos of the mileage, you would get a bargain.

Nope, I would have been well on my way to work by then.
Did you see the nice puddle of oil under the bike? 4 litres of oil, all p*ssed onto the drive. Damn! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

Think mine's on about 25-27k now... might be due a service soon actually. Runs sweet as a nut though.
Oh, and curvy model all the way. ____________________ Photos and that |

mine had 16K on it and is a 52reg, theres someone on SV650.org (the forum G mentioned) cant remember there name and had 100K on the clock!!!
mine had just had a full service so 16K didnt put me off as i wanted a curvy one and i personally think pointy ones are horrible
+ from K2 onwards they have adjustable preload, tis very handy
If they price was right on the bike in question 18K isnt much at all for a SV  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Cool, cheers for the info.
It's going for £2,295. I think thats a little steep for a bike with that mileage, so I'd probably ask for a servce to be included, or knock the price down a bit. ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

I should really learn to read properly. I looked at it twice too, and it still didn't register. It was a long day, well, that's my excuse! ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

Right,
I'm off to test ride the beast (*snigger*) tomorrow morning.
I've never bought a bike from a dealer before, would it be unreasonable of me to try and get a bit of the price knocked off? Or perhaps (if it needs it) whack on a new C&S or something like that?
I'm a cheapskate and like a bargain! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |
