Hi,

I've seen for sale an SV650.

It's an 05 plate, so the current model, the only downer I've noticed is that it's got 18,000 miles on the clock and only part history...

I think I've just answered my own question...

Bugger.

Depends on the price.

If it wasn't in Scotland I would have got 2k model, 12k miler, a few scratches but also some spares for £1250.

There's a 47k miler that I've been offered for £1.1k and if someoen else doesn't get it I'm also tempted by a 20k miler with a dead engine for £850.

Have you looked on forums.sv650.org (Though no buying any bikes I want Razz )?

Remember there's little real world difference between the pointy and curvy ones apart from the better looks of the former.

I know of a couple who have just bought a spare SV wit 1100miles on it for £2500, they are taking all the tarty bits and plastics off their origional 46k one, putting the stock parts ont the newly bought frame and selling.

they want £1600 i think for 46k curvy bright yellow sv.. full service history, by suzuki as well i think.

I'm glad you agree! Most people on the SV650 forums prefer the pointies, but I think they look awful front on. Bit of a shame the SV1000 didn't come out until 2003, I think I would probably have gone for one as an upgrade in curvy form. Still, it has the nicest arse I reckon, once the snow shovel's been replaced Wink

I said former reffering to the first thing I said - ie the pointy Smile.

However, I can appreciate the looks of the older one - when I was 16 or so I can remember reading reviews of the TL1000 and thinking 'wow' - so always quite liked them and the curvy SV is kinda similar, abiet a bit toned down and not quite 'there' for me Smile.

Imay end up with full race fairings on my road one anyway.

mine had 16K on it and is a 52reg, theres someone on SV650.org (the forum G mentioned) cant remember there name and had 100K on the clock!!!

mine had just had a full service so 16K didnt put me off as i wanted a curvy one and i personally think pointy ones are horrible Sick

+ from K2 onwards they have adjustable preload, tis very handy Thumbs Up

If they price was right on the bike in question 18K isnt much at all for a SV Thumbs Up

Cool, cheers for the info.

It's going for £2,295. I think thats a little steep for a bike with that mileage, so I'd probably ask for a servce to be included, or knock the price down a bit.

Yea, test ride could be quite a good idea, i can see how some poeple dont like the grunt and lack of top end, i like it though but think i will move on to a IL4 when i come to change (2 years+ though)

What grunt? Wink Razz.

I would get a test ride, regardless of engine characteristics anyway if you haven't ridden that many different bikes.

Embarassed I should really learn to read properly. I looked at it twice too, and it still didn't register. It was a long day, well, that's my excuse!

Right,

I'm off to test ride the beast (*snigger*) tomorrow morning.

I've never bought a bike from a dealer before, would it be unreasonable of me to try and get a bit of the price knocked off? Or perhaps (if it needs it) whack on a new C&S or something like that?

I'm a cheapskate and like a bargain! Wink
