...Winter Olympics - Womens Curling (or Mens, for that matter) Thinking

I can't help agreeing with Clarkson on Saturday.

'...and middle-aged British women pushing kettles along the floor while their mates do some sweeping' Confused

My paint's drying faster than this discipline Razz

Hardly heart-pounding viewing, is it Wink

If I did this as a sport I'd seriously contemplate killing myself.

The winter olympics is a bit poo compared to the summer. Sad

To be fair the game they are currently showing isn't at the exciting end of the curling spectrum however, it can get fairly intense. It all depends on how you choose to view it - if you get involved in thinking about the tactics etc that changes matters considerably.

Personally I prefer the Winter Olympics to the summer ones. Whilst the summer ones do have a few things I'm interested in the Winter ones have lots of snow n stuff which is pretty Very Happy Oh, and some funky sports of course.

Oh, and nice double take-out by Lockhart just now btw Smile

any of you ever tried curling? It's *very* difficult and hard work! It may look easy watching it on TV but it's not at all....

Nope.

And I don't even intend trying Laughing

And i take it from your criticism that your not good at any of these things you listed? or maybe you never felt good enough to have pride in something?

I mean canoeing isn't the greatest spectator sport is it?
but i used to do this when younger and got to the level of silver medal UK championship and yes i had pride in what i was trying to do and achieve, so you shouldn't knock things that just arnt your thing really.

Would like to hear about your achievements if you have any?

And I take it you lost your sense of humour when you took a dump this morning.
I did mention I loathe these sports, which may suggest I don’t partake.
I have pride in many things, running, jumping and throwing is like Sunday Roast for me, pointless.

Unless you’re throwing stones I guess.

You’d love that, and then you’d criticise.

I assumed you thought I was going to post “Well I’m good at xxxx..”

I couldn’t imagine you saying, ”Well-done, wish I could do that, your like a god or summin”

Criticism isn’t what I’d call my style either, but I like having a laugh.

I understand that you can't run, jump or throw, but why is a Sunday Roast pointless?

Many, many years ago, me was UK gold standard for gymnastics (stop f***ing laughing, all of ya'. I was young once too Razz ).

But, had to pull out due to Perthes disease (look it up). Now need both hips replacing Shocked

I was commenting on the first post, which seemed to be the general angle of the thread (early on anyway!):

Quote:
'...and middle-aged British women pushing kettles along the floor while their mates do some sweeping'

that rather implies not thinking it's very difficult... doesn't it? Confused

That wasn't my quote, or anyone else's on here. It was something I mentioned that Jeremy Clarkson said on Saturday.

It was simply a satirical comment, that's all Wink

No-one said Curling wasn't difficult. Just like no-one said it was easy Rolling Eyes

This was mean't to be a light-hearted thread. Obviously, some folks take everything literally Confused
