£100 for 5 people. Could you increase it a bit.
When my parents went away for 2 weeks, i had take away or ready meals everynight or just ate out, spent quite alot of money acutally. Just go down there and they have massive fridges of ready meals and just pick a couple up.
Just buy what you see and think you'll need, but yes i do believe it's a bit of an art form. |

That's quite a tight buget, so think simple. If you've gotta include lunches as well that's a very tight buget.
Avoid too much meat, it's expensive. If you really can't live without it go for mince & sausage kind thing rather than steak or chicken breast.
Pasta & rice meals are easy. Think curries, stir-frys, pasta bakes, bolognaise.
Don't forget other kitchen things like salt, cooking oil, cling film, tin foil.
luck
Edit: I was assuming you had to cook as well, but reading it again I'm not sure you do? If not, buy really complicated stuff - you'll never be asked to do the shopping again |

£100 piece of piss.
If you want to do it on the sly and have some cash left over, whip down to your local Lidl/Aldi/Farmfoods and just get whatever you think will feed people. Then you can surprise her by having £15 left for a takeaway that week. |

Would've thought the butler does your shopping catate? |

How?? meals cost loads, 2 bottles of coca cola is like £3.30, sloppy joes pizza £4.50, meat (like duck, steak, chicken is pretty expensive) |
You don't buy coke, people just buy bottles if they want it, during the week. You don't buy pizza, you buy pies. You don't buy sirloin, you buy stewing steak and make a casserole.
All this budget shopping; I'm going to be able to live on 50p a week at university! |

I'm telling you, Farmfoods is a students' dream. I could easily live on £5 a week from there, if I ever needed to. 6 pies for £1, pizzas for £1, 20 sausages for £1, you get the picture. |

Yeah, while they were selling them off for a quid before they went out of date. It was nice, not £4.50 good though. If I'm spending that much on a pizza I'll get a pre-cooked takeaway one. |

Example of a few meals we would do at uni-
Coleman's sauces are a good start.
Minced beef £1, mixed veg 40p, mashed potato 40p, casserole sauce £1.
This would feed 4 with ease, costs £2.80 and takes 10mins to cook, then in oven for 30mins whilst you tidy up.
Replace beef with sausages and sauce to match, you have sausage casserole. superb.
Minced beef £1, mixed veg 40p, chilli con-carne sauce £1. Rice 50p
Again will feed 4, and everyone loves a chilli.
Spag-bol- minced beef £1, sauce £1, veg 40p pasta 50p, bit of grated cheese, 30p.
If your short on cash, avoid ready meals. Unless you pay top ££ they are full of crap and over priced.
Who spends £3.50 on coke? Your nuts. At that sort of price I'd be drinking fresh fruit juices. £4.50 for a pizza?? You mean the 'Pizza Express' ones? 'Ask' is an identical restaurant, and do takeaway pizza's for £4.95. For an extra 45p I'd sooner have one fresh and cooked by a chef!! |
