Let's have some personal opinions. Smile

My season 1 boxset arrived this morning, I got it really because they're only £17 at Play. I've never seen a single episode, so le's have some thoughts. Particularly, is it worth buying 2, 3 and 4?

Just a quick preview before I start going through it tonight. Very Happy Thumbs Up Beer, a sofa, and flashy American drama. Nothing better. Mr. Green

I was ill for a few days last year and splashed out on 2 and 3 - it's much better when you can watch several episodes back to back.

I do find certain aspects of it a little annoying at times - over-reliance on 'trendy' phrases/concepts, like 'protocol' which is used in at least every other sentence. One of the producers obviously read an article that referred to CT protocols and decided that intelligence services can't stop saying it.

Still, an agreeable way to pass the time, although not as clever as The West Wing, or as funny as The Shield.

season 1 is the best out of 1,2,3 & 4 because they start to become repetative in certain things and you can start to guess where stuff is going. but it fecks you up if you miss 1 episode. i would still say watch the other seasons because if you skip a season sometimes they relate back to stuff thats happened previously. as for season 5 JACKS BACK!!!! dont watch it before youve seen season for otherwise you wont have a clue wots going on. currently up to episode 7 and cant wait for elisha cuthbert to come back into it Mr. Green Thumbs Up

I have heard this program being called "crack tv" as you get addicted to it so much and have to watch the next episode and they aren't wrong!

If you think Lost is good, then I would say this is even better! Twists and storylines that keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat!

I am now on the latest season 5 after seeing the past 4 seasons and would love to be back where you are starting from not seeing nothing because I really do think it is the best program on TV.

You will love it! But don't talk to anyone else about watching it if you are on the first season as they are more than likely going to spoil it for you and let some of the storyline slip!

Smile I've watched the first 2 episodes, and I'll admit it's good, if a little hard to keep track of! (May be due to various legal/illegal substances though Shhh!)

Think I'll watch the 3rd ep now and then I'll cram a few more in tomorrow. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Um, I think I will be watching ep 7 tonight. The beginning of this series was such a shocker and it seems to have died down a little bit now... can see something big happening soon though!

I bought the first, second and third series box set last year when I got made redundant. Watched all 3 in a week, also with the help of illegal substances.

1st series is good/clever. They make much more of the fact that it's shown in real time. If you have the DVD, watch the alternative ending after you're done, and see if you thought it was as ridiulously bad as I did.

2nd and 3rd were a little duller for me, more soap-opera style relationship stuff, and a lot of political manouvering. Enjoyed them, but not as much as Series 4 which is all about the guns, and Jack Bauer's love of death. Series 4 had two events in it that I didn't expect, or think I would see on TV. Series 5 looks like being at possibly an even higher level of gunplay.

(btw, for those downloading them, s05ep8 is on the torrent sites now)

I would agree with this assesment too, 2/3 aren't as good as 1/4 but they are still the best thing on the tv, and you can't watch any season without seeing the one preceding it.

Not sure about Season 5 yet, it's that more difficult because it's only on weekly where as before I could watch as many as I wanted from the DVD.

I watched the first couple of seasons in full but after a while there's only so much you can take of Jack Bauer and his inability to talk in anything but variants of a whisper.

I always liked it that as he was 'in position' waiting for the 'go go go', his phone would always ring. Not on silent, and he'll happily sit and have a chat while just inches away from whatever lunacy is about to happen.

Also, whenever ANYTHING happens, CTU priority is getting the perimeter set up. If it's really bad, they use a hard perimeter.

Finally, Jack will happily let everyone in the world die if it means stopping a terrorist. Unless his family is involved, in which case he'll kill the president if he has to. What a guy. A cop that doesn't play by the rules, but damnit he gets results.

I haven't seen the 1st 2 series, but 3 and 4 were addictive. 5 started off quite fast paced and looks to be as good if not better.
