Hi

After an incident last night, if you see someone with a serious problem with their vehicle how would you flag them down?

All the best

Keith

If safe over take, and wave them over to side of ride, if not flashing them and pointing at the kerb may work

If I was following the vehicle, I would flash my headlight, and indicate left or point left. (but only if there was no risk of another vehicle being misled by my signals.)

Hi

Pretty much what I try and do. Difficult though.

Last night it was a lorry carrying cars on the M6. As I came up behind him I could smell burning rubber which disappeared as I went past. Moved back in and got behind again. Smell virtually disappeared on the right, got very strong on the left. Quick peer and I could see whisps of smoke. Took a while to get his attention but no understanding of what I was trying to say. Think another lorry got the idea though as it went beside him and then he pulled over.

Looks like the rear tyres on one side were low on pressure. Pretty close to having a blow out.

All the best

Keith

well spotted, good effort to get him to stop, I am glad it all turned out well

Id probably follow until it stopped at lights or a junction or something.
I dont know how Id stop someone on the open road.

I might try opening my visor and shouting. Even if they couldnt understand what i was saying, they would know something was up and might stop.

Hope so, but it is a pig of a job to try and warn people when something is obviously wrong.

All the best

I've seen a lorry blowout... causes total carnage Shocked

The tyre carcass must have been spread over about half a mile (he must have carried on going after it ripped or something).

Thumbs Up for trying to stop it Smile

Hmm. That is a difficult one, especially when you're on a bike as they could just think that you're about to hijack them. Dunno what I'd do.

I once saw a bike with his back light out in fairly busy local traffic at night. I kinda stuck behind him, until we came to a junction, and then got in front of him, and blocked his way, and told him his light was out. Offered him a spare, but he had some.

Hi

Cheers all. Looks like there is no good way to get peoples attention. On A roads it is easy as you just wait for them to stop, not that easy on a motorway.

All the best

Noticed someone without any lights on one night, followed them down the road for a bit flashing my lights loads, eventually they got the idea.

No idea how to get someone to pull over, dont think they would take me seriously anyway, being on a 125.

In a car i would pull in front with hazards and try and slow them down , if that didnt work id probably call police to assist.

On a bike though ??? No idea , i think if you tried the same you may not be taken as seriously as well as being kinda vulnerable

Good work Very Happy

Yeah, car makes it easy, especially if you have a passenger who can shout.

Police might have been an idea, but there is actually a police depot about 2 miles after where he pulled over so I would probably have tried to get him to go there (at least that way he hopefully doesn't think I am hijacking him Laughing .

All the best
