too late i said it now

but just cos u cd have go it cheaper doesnt stop it being a good bike. enjoy it Smile

possibly on the pricey side but thats dealers for you but 12 months is good and unusual for a 2nd hand bike of that age.

if you had gone private you could have got a hell of alot cheaper but not the peace of mind of a warranty but if you're pleased and happy thats the main thing.

take a look in auto trader and mcn to see whats about. Thumbs Up

For the year and model and the fact it is at a Dealer then thats around what you would be paying.. providing the bike is in at least A2 condition.

There are plenty of cracking deals around for SRADS at your mileage if you are willing to go private.

well i went back to the dealer today to test ride the bike, it sounds like an absolute monster Thumbs Up there are some very good extras i wasnt aware of, there is an alarm and immobilser, carbon fibre under tray, after market exhaust. one thing that put me off when riding is it looks like the previous owner did not service or look after the bike at all. i have said to the dealer i want the tyres replaced (they where as bald as a babys arse) the chain and sprockets needed replacing, the pads didnt seem to good, and there are a few minor scuffs that need attending to.

all of that together made me say to them i was not happy with the condition even though they hadnt actually serviced and valated the bike.

they are looking into getting a full service history for the bike for me to look at. one thing that also concerned me is the rear sprocket seemed to move a little when changing gear sometimes, which im not a bike buff, but doesnt that mean the rear shock absorbers have gone because the bike has been wheelied/thrashed?

they are giving me a 12 month warranty, but is there anything i should point out for them to look at for my own piece of mind?
i havent actually purchased the bike, they are going to look and sort the bike out for me to have another look.

If the sprocket is moving about it could be that the Cush Drive rubber inside the wheel could have gone. Easy fix if you can remove the rear wheel.

The rear shock is something to look out for aswell - mine was changed before I bought the bike (reconditioned oem).

Id insist on new chain and sprockets, get the cush drive down (if thats whats wrong), and a full service.

yeah thats it the cush drive, cheers mate, yeah that defo has gone. its a real shame i have the doubts because the bike is modified nicely, i guess i just need to see the service history and make them fully service it.

i better make sure that i get some good mileage out of it if i take it, that way i can be sure to iron any mechanical faults out of the bike before the warranty expires Laughing

Cush drive rubbers are just over £9 each new, so thats £60 for a new set. Not something that would make me walk away from a deal however you are paying for a dealer sourced bike - it should be in great nick for the money you are paying.

Err not sure. Brake fluid and clearences if they are due.

The only thing that ive broken properly on the GSX-R is the clutch. An attempted drunken burnout wasted not only the clutch plates but the basket and everything in between. I really should have just dropped a new low mileage engine in but instead I went with a £400 repair. I have also broken - and still not fixed - my headlight after binning the bike in a spot of accident prevention. I also broke my gear change lever because I have big silly boots and stamp on it a lot. My Brake discs warped badly after I fitted snazzy EBC HH Sintered pads so I need a pair of them.

Nothing has broken on its own - if that helps.

Filters and cush drive rubbers aren't something you can 'check'. Not if you don't take the rear wheel off and the sprocket.

Other consumeables could be front and rear brake pads, front and rear brake discs, the colour of the brake fluid, look for leaking fork seals or leaking rear shock absorber. Could also check for rounded off bolts if you want to be particular about things.

Open up the coolant bottle if you can and look at the condition of the coolant inside. If extremely murky, I'd be thinking they haven't serviced it at all.

He mentioned that the sprocket is moving about a bit so I think it is likley that something is amiss there.

What are the bar ends/crankcase cover like - any marks or touch up paint? It's a gixxer so its probably been binned Razz

Lots of service history.
