Lol, yeah it is further away from South America than I expected.

Somehow I don't think they used a rowing boat! Maybe a ship of somesort.

Look at the squares with hi-res images. Everything else is blurred until they get images for those areas.

yea they dont have high res coverage of all areas, google buy or are givent the images as any 3rd party takes them and makes them avalable, google dont commission them themselves.

if your getting blury images wait for the "strwaming" bar to get 100% before you give it up as that measn its still DLing the images, if it is still crap when its done then thats the best pic of your area!

the earth comunity is quite good, you can find alsorts of interesting facts about places on the forums, if you want fory boyard then search the forums for it and DL the plasemark.

BTW enjoy it while it lasts, google earth is costing google an enourmus amount of money, not that they cant afford it. but apparentley its owning their servers. which is alot to say their servers are INSANE! on google campus they have storgae that has on it the entire world wide web wich my guestamte would be 70% of the internet, plus the servers hold that IN RAM

quote from the guy whos incharge of IT at google
"Each set of document servers contains one copy of the Web. These machines are responsible for delivering the content snippets that show searchers relevant text from the page."
https://www.internetnews.com/xSP/article.php/3487041

plus now they have Googlevideo, Gmail and google earth wich are all very high bandwith and very large.
BTW googleis now almost as big as Microsoft Neutral

A rather crazy Norwegian called Thor Heyerdahl sailed a balsa wood boat (based on prehistoric artifacts) from South America to the Polynesian and Easter Islands to prove that people could have got out there.

Find out about his expeditions here

my areas a bit out of date... have moved twice since the pic was taken, however.. this is my old garden... the blurry big blue thing is my ex husband, and the blurry brindle thing my old dog (RIP)

freaky thing is, the day i found the pic was the day i heard that he'd had my dog put to sleep!
