It’s all true Haggard, but when you experience loss of all your fu*king pictures you call the helpline ‘obviously’ and they direct you to the software update on their website which solves the problem from there.

Aren’t they fu*king great….

I know what you mean (kind of) i have loads of pics on my phone too, pics i dont ever want to delete. When i upgrade my phone, im going to have to send each picture to my new phone manually, as for some reason my nokia PC suite software isnt working anymore...

Its always a shame to loose personal pics that mean something to you... Thumbs Down Sad

A few months ago i lost 4000 songs on my pc. Damn confusing Itunes

Did that myself a while back. All i was trying to do was put a couple of song to it draged and dropped the songs clicked update and it put both tracks onto the ipod ..... Deleted the other 2000 odd id already put on it. Took it back got a refund and got a 4 gig sony mp3 player which im happy with works like a removable hard drive i HATE IPODS they suck.

I use a blue tooth dongle on my sony k700i. It works perfect no messy cables or trying to get the software to find the ports and then the ports to find the damn phone. You just search as if you were trying to find another bluetooth phone then connect.

frequent, and multiple backups ARE your friend

my phone and iPAQ are both sync with my laptop and mediacenter.

when I've finished rebuilding my linux box, I can move backups onto that.

What confused you?

When you press delete, it asks you if you would like to delete the song from your playlist, or your computer.

You had 50/50 I suppose.

I know how to delete a song, it didn't say that. I formatted my pc & it reconized it as a new system i was running the ipod on. I can't remember exactly what it asked, but something about old settings on a new itunes, but more confusing.

Same circumstances here just formated and reinstalled it dragged my tracks accross it asked me if i wanted to update the library i said yes and all my tracks dissapeared. Why cant they just make them act like a removable Hd instaed of having the useless fancy shite i want to listern to music not set up a mutiple page database.

My new sonys fool proof and its plug and play
I think microsoft have possibly made it difficult for the ipods to plug and play due to apple being a rival company. Make them a pain to use and peeps like me take them back.

If it's important, back it up. Back it up to your PC (buy a bluetooth dongle). Then back it up to CD/DVD.

I'm so paranoid I back up the entire PC to tape, and keep the latest tape in the car rather than the house, just in case it all goes up in smoke.

I’d say in this case, lesson learned, I should have backed it up TBH, but not entirely my fault.
But then again what a severe problem for such a respected outfit…..

When I called them (3 times) I asked different questions each time as I got to know more, first time the guy said he had never heard of the problem before.
Well I’ve typed a letter of complaint because I should have been notified somehow that whilst using your phone with USB expect to loose every fuc*ing file on it. Rolling Eyes
If they want to try and ignore me I have the name of the Sony helpline gimp and time of call, evidence is gold shi* heads… Wink

How many data recovery programs have you tried?

Have you read the manual? It'll have something in there about possible data loss.

Not entirely your fault... did you disconnect the USB cable whilst it was being used?

The recovery program you sent me a link to got me as far as identifying files corrupt, and then it asked for $999.
Is there anything that could be a little cheaper, if not free??

No I didn’t unplug it whilst in operation, you right click and ‘stop’ the device, I know I did this every time.

Take it to a data recovery expert, but expect to pay for the privaledge.

You need to minimise the amount of data being written to the phone memory, otherwise it will fragment and overwrite the files you want to recover.

Don't change any options, don't take any more pictures, power it off until you find a solution.
