Ok, so i got a datatool systems 3 from a mate brand new, he said its got the certificate but not sure what it looks like..

I have just had my insurance papers come trough and they are requesting the security certificate for the alarm,

I am planning on getting it fitted by a bike mechanic who works in a shop but in his own time for a few bob on the side

Now my question is, does the certificate need to be stamped/signed or any thing similar by a bike dealer, or is it a generic certificate??

Can he fill it in himself of does it need to go trough the shop itself?

I wont be able to see the certificate in time to see what it requires as they are asking for proof within 7 days, so if anyone knows or has a certificate could you please let me know what need to be filled in on it?

Cheers

It has to be signed and dated by the installer, and there's a box for the dealer / installer centre stamp.

If he's the one who's an authorised fitter, I'd imagine his signature would be good enough. Mine's just stamped by the dealer, the installer name/sig is empty, which suggests it's an either/or kinda thing.

The certificate itself is A4 and in triplicate, yellow one goes back to Datatool, white one goes to your insurer, blue one you keep.

Iirc it can't be fitted by any old mechanic, it must be an authorised datatool technician.

So I'd imagine the dealer needs to be registered, in which case leave the fitter sig. blank, or the mechanic needs to be registered, in which case leave the dealer stamp off.

There isn't really, most of it's just info about where components are located.

Surely if he's an authorised tech, he should know what to do about the whole thing?
