Try and get a different practise CD.

I might have one you can have, I'll post back later.

Don't just click for the hell of it in the hazard perception, just click as you see things develop. There are as few as 3 or 4 clicks per clip in some cases. I lost 5 points because I clicked too much in one; still scraped through, luckily.

Good luck with rebooking it.

Just click twice for each clip.

First when you first see the hazard

Second about a second or so after that, so that even if you're too early on the first one, you should pick up points.

Don't panic and click away like a game of solitare, its a sure way to fail as the computer won't like it.

The concept of the test is a little confusing at first. The instructions tell you to click when you see a hazard and click again as it develops. Their definition of hazard and mine differed slightly. If theres a kid looking to cross the road I count that as a hazard - they do not, unless it steps off the curb. I dont think it promotes the sort of vigilance that is required in built up areas.

The underlying factor is that you just have to play the game and watch for anything big about to happen. Don't click like a madman at everything, and don't click in a rhythm or pattern. Like someone said there are only a few hazrds, or even 1 developing hazard in each test.

just take your time next time and think about your clicks and you should be fine mate, your not the first one to get caght out by this ridiculous test and you def wont be the last.

good luck for next time

Wink Thumbs Up

I have my bike theory coming up on the 7th march and have recently done my car theory. Thankfully I passed the car theory buy only just, I found the instructions for the hazard perception were lacking and made a complaint (although passing). To top of their poor instructions all the machines were running stupid 60hz refresh rate monitors, which I found made it quite hard to focus on the clips.

Just to confirm, for my next test, do you click when you first see a hazard then click again when the vehicle your in has to physically move/stop?

If you could do this it would make it quite pointless as you would know whats coming and so have a 'faked' reaction time.

Anyway slightly offtopic post but hope its ok, good luck for your next test space Smile

the worst part about the hazard perception test is that its biased towards the non driver/rider.
you look at the scene and long before any hazard is presented you spot the car in a drive with the lights on,the junction to your left, the people walking towards a pedestrian crossing etc.
then you click too soon for the machine.
the noob is looking for something to happen where as someone with a few years and a brain cell is looking for things before they happen.
i passed first time with a technique of click when you se a potential hazard and click a 1 sec intervals while it developes (or doesnt)
passed first got 35/35 on the questions and a piss poor passing mark on the hp test.
but a pass is a pass

May be a good thing..

If your not ready it could save your life.

Go over it time and time again, when my Mrs was doing hers we kept playing it and playing it until it was drummed in.

Good luck next time.

Good Luck with it!

The multiple choice is easy, however I just scraped through the hp at 44/75 (the minimum before a fail!). Just take your time, look through the cd the dsa sent you and relax.

hard luck mate.
I failed my HP first time too.
I think they should have a review afterwards and show you where you went wrong because i was like you when i came out, thinking
" well ok, where did i f*ck up"
At least you can book it again pretty soon.
Good luck.

Hey as people have said already, you only need to click when you see a hazard that may cause you to slow down or stop. The quicker you see this hazard approaching the more points you will get. Just look out for cyclists, people on zebra crossings about to cross, cars pulling out, road work signs etc... Look further ahead than you normally would just to make sure you spot things early. Good luck for next time mate, Thumbs Up Dan
