Not if done correctly however the engine is unlikely to last as long. Especially top end.

ive just derestricted my tzr 50!!

do it i say ul enjoy your bike so much more!!

i dont think u can damage your bike by derestricting it...because you taking away restrictors that slow the engine down in the 1st place!!

hope this helps Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Cool

Brother has a 2005 RS50 bought new in october.

It was derestricted after the first service(after it was run in)
Was carried out by where we bought it from for free.

But as it is revving harder and under more pressure wont that cause more damage to the engine?

surely not if warmed up and good oil and general maintainance used....

have owned 2 50 2 strokes now, both derestricted after run in perioid,

one reached 8000km and was still sweet. so /shrug/ can't see why it would.

From what i gather, some bikes acctually benefit from being derestricted. Sometimes the powerband can be cut off by the restriction which means its straining all the time unescessarily.

It's designed to run full power anyway, I've never been fond of strangling a perfectly good engine with restrictors Confused

And 50 powerbands are something to behold.. they really are all or nothing Laughing Totally gutless under the 'band, then all the useable power is at once. Takes skill to ride them well, especially round twisty or hilly roads!

i like what you say!! lol Thumbs Up

Im used to my tzr well now i know the power band is between 6500rpm and 9.500 rpm!!

anything below that and you grind to a halt lol!!

its good fun though trying to keep in that range! Thumbs Up Razz

Just a note but keep a closer eye on the oil after derestriction, some bikes burn alot more in full power form.
