One of my neighbours like four doors away came over today complaining that I am gonna hit his kids "the way I drive down the path". I do not EVER go over 10mph down the path to my front door. Thought this guy was gonna go for it and smack me so I was quite snotty wit him. What would you boys and girls do - he dint even give me a chance to get off my bike b4 he started.

Give him a dose of truth - he is an over protectiva paranoid imbecile. I have to ride down the pavement for 10 ro 15 yards, with neighbours with kids on both sides. Neither of them have complained because they trust me, and know i'm hardly going to leather it down the pavement.

Your riding on the pavement. Accept that he is in the right however rude he may have been, if he's kids are young then you could easily be endangering them even at that speed. From now on, pull upto the kerb then turn your bike off and get off. Push the bike to your house, not difficult is it?

I agree with Reuben, fact is you are riding on a pavement where pedestrians will be. Legally, he's got every right to report you for riding down it. Just waddle down it!

Is this a privately owned path or are you talking about the pavement?

What do you mean by "path" exactly?
I have a drop kerb as have a drive way so I naturally ride over this to go onto my drive which I am perfectly entitled to do so just as I would with a car. Do you have a piccy to show us the layout so we can see what you mean, do you not have a drop kerb to access your path??

Road Traffic Act 1988. Section 34:
(2) It is not an offence under this section to drive a motor vehicle on any land within fifteen yards of a road, being a road on which a motor vehicle may lawfully be driven, for the purpose only of parking the vehicle on that land.

I think your neighbour may have a point. 10mph is a little fast to be riding down a path where kids are playing. Slow down and I doubt he'll bother you again. He's only worrying about his kids which is what most parents do.
If you want to argue with him you may well end up in a fight. People can get a bit violent when protecting their children.

M8 seriously I do not go fast - I have kids also - I DON'T RIDE FAST on the pavement. This is public property I see his point so I will push but fuck when I upgrade to my 500 its gona be a nightmare - I aint scared of a fight neither. Just pissed me off that he wanted to have a do while I was still on the bike in all my kit - ya kinda feel vulnerable then if ya get me.
think all my neighbours are "anti bike" but I love riding and I reckon that he is the type of guy that will go to the council for an ASBO or something so I will keep the peace.
Shame really.

IF you were wearing your helmet... id have just head butted the twat!

No seriously, i dont know - depends on the path - is it private property?

If its public, just take what he said seriously as he could report you and you'd get fucked for it.

If its private... have a word with him..

At the end of the day - yeah you may be riding on a private path.. but what the hell are his kids doing out unsupervised!?!?!?!

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

from stinkwheels post, what you are doing doesnt appear to be wrong. however, he may just be worried. alternatively he may be a snobby prat. yoiu say "when i upgrade to 500".

if you are on a 125 i found people look down on you a lot. i used to get trouble that my brother never gets on his SV, cos thats a "proper" bike, because its bvigger the rider must be more responsible Rolling Eyes

you say you are going slow, sounds like you are already being responsible. Thumbs Up

Go and talk to him before it turns nasty, no point fighting over it tbh.

If you cannot resolve the problem then if i was you i would get of the bike if its on flat or up hill and drop it into first and use the engine to do the work for you.

No doubt once you do that he will see that you are trying to be reasonable and he will get his kid to kick you all the way up the road. Laughing

LOL at saxo joke Smile I have decided to give in and push it - started this new process 2day. I think all the neighbours will be happier, puts their minds at rest. Plus 10 against 1 (very clique neighbourhood that I have moved to) is pretty unfair if they went to the council. I am the new noisy neighbour!!
Lets hope they dont try to push one step further like starting it on the road coz it needs 5 mins to warm up!! Give some ppl an inch and they take a mile as my mum says!!!
I dont feel defeated about it either now I have had time to think about it as there is less chance of an accident. There would be nothing worse than hittin a kid on pavement!!
