Car Remote programming

I only have one key for my car and had an idea. Could I buy a fob from ebay and then get it programmed by a garage or do you have to have the original card that came with the car in order for the garage to do it?

Depends on the car. On some cars the easiest way to do it is to buy a key which is cloned from your own.

To be honest you are probably best off finding a forum dedicated to your car and asking there.

I did exactly what your describing with my Peugoet 306 and it worked fine. But be aware that you have to know the exact programming technique.

I found the programming technique on www.pug306.net which is a forum especially for 306s

Hi

Different manufacturers do it in different ways. Some Ford's could be done with the Red (sometimes black) master key and the ignition (watching the 'blink' state of the immobiliser LED). Vauxhall - I think that you need the Tech 2 system and of course the transponder code from the card.

A while back, someone showed me an advert for a locksmith who had a special device for 'cloning' keys. Maybe a ring round to establish if your local ones can help?
