Hi,
saw 'Revolver' recently, shit movie but it had some cool anime sections in it, they looked really modern, a bit like the stuff in kill bill. Anyway, I liked it, can anyone recommend some good anime movies along the same style?
I've seen the well-known ones, like princess mononoke, spirited away, akira etc but thats it. Don't know anything about it.

I'm quite partial to a bit of Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist myself, you should give them a try |

AFAIK, manga is the drawing, and anime is just an animated cartoon manga ____________________ My Bikes - - - Royal Enfield 500 with sidecar, VFR800, CBR600FX,

I can't recommend any particular series or movie that's easily (read "for free") available, but:
"Anime" is a medium and, at the end of the day, means cartoons (minus the connotation that it's for children only). There's a plethora of subjects covered (from programs suitable for 4 years olds to programs involving 4 year olds that might get you nearly arrested and everything in between). If the animation style interests you, then just dive in... there's a lot of stuff available (semi-)legally (have a google for "fan sub") via torrents at sites like animesuki. Sites like AnimeNFO or similar provide reviews and thus let you find stuff you might like. Whatever you do, don't tar everything with the same brush... like any medium there's a lot of crud out there, but more than just a few diamonds in the rough.
If you've got a decent torrent setup, just grab episode one and two of everything you come across... you can usually tell within the first few minutes whether you'll like it or not. It doesn't take long to get a rough idea of what you like. From your description, you're probably after "shonen" ("boys stuff") class series, for example (not to be mistaken for "shonen ai" -- "Boy love" ). It takes only a little effort to get a handle on what you might care for, so I'd encourage you to try it ____________________ CG125 (stolen->recovered!) || Wars do not decide who's right, only who's left. |
