Posted: 00:21 - 02 Mar 2006 Post subject: CG125W Sorting out Throttle and now Full Beam doesn't work |
 |
|
Hi,
Just took my throttle grip apart, pulled the slack cable through, cleaned, lubed and put back together to sort out a problem where the engine would rev when I moved the bars to the right.
Decided that now would be a good time to dismantle my headlamp and pop the casing back together (There was an open bit in the casing at the top where it had become unclipped, was just about to order a new headlamp too)
Also the exhaust was making a horrible noise where it is joined ot the frame, so I removed the nuts, cleaned and lubed the threads, and re attached them.
Now I've reassambled it, put the bike up next to a wall and put a strip of duct tape where the beam was aimed at, walked the bike backwards and made sure it was still in line.
Decided then to test my full beam. Headlight completely cuts out.
Put the wires in a bit at the back and full beam comes on again.
The full beam light in the console lights up when I hit it, so it looks like I've jogged a wire loose in the shell.
Will take it apart tomorrow - Full beam isn't essential for the riding I'll be doing.
Any advice? Shall I coat the insides in WD40 and check all the spade connectors?
(As a side note, I'm enjoying getting stuck into the bike now, taking stuff apart is much easier once you try it! )
Sorry for the ramble, just proud of myself that I've actually done stuff to the bike! (Even though I broke full beam =P)
Thanks for the help,
Toby |

Haha, suppose so.
I will go over the connectors tomorrow, I'm not that interested in full beam so it's not top priority, whereas closing the shell of my headlamp (finally) was |
