Right, well the most complained about feature of the new forum layout, as far as I can see, is the lack of bike photos and videos available in a seperate forum.

There's Found on the 'Net, but that's effectively 'Funny Stuff' and part of 'Offtopic' drawn into one, so bike-related videos are lost in the pile.

And there's Show and Tell, but pictures don't really qualify, and it isn't a space for videos which members didn't make.

I propose an exclusively bike-related Pictures and Videos section, which can either be found on the internet or made by your good selves.

Vote away, power to the people! Mr. Green

I do agree to some extent.

But if you think about it the system does work:

If the bike is your own, which you want to show people and tell people a little bit about it - Put it in Show and Tell

If the bike is not your own, just some random person off the internet's picture or video - Put it in Found on the 'net.

It's not really hard is it, if it's worth watching it will stay at the top, this way random videos and pictures sink to the bottom, while members own pictures and videos stay at the top of an exclusive forum.

It makes sense to me.

I have a slightly different request. Whether Pics and Videos comes back to replace Found on the 'Net, I don't mind. I only used to look in that section once every few weeks when very bored.

I would like the Found on the 'Net section to not be included when I "view all topics" under off-topic chat. I liked reading the pointless banter and the inevitable fights quite often, but most of the threads displayed end up being cut and paste jokes, or links to meatspin equivalents.

Like I say, I'd still use the Pics and Vids or 'Net section, I just like it being kept away from me until I actually want to look at it.

What about some sort of customisable list view, where I could tick boxes to show me all the topics from "General Bike Chat, Show and Tell, Touring, and The Geek Zone" or something similar?

Not for a normal bike though. Show and Tell is not just for pictures.

Why not?

Goose put his newly aquired TRX in there and it hasn't been moved, nor is it 'not normal' and I never said it was just for pictures.

I do think it's a good idea, and I also agree with RobB.

FAQ

This forum is intended as a showcase for BCF content. If you have a story you've been aching to tell, knowledge you want to dispense, or a project you feel like showing off - this is your chance. Please treat the following as a guide to what I would like posted here, and how it should be posted. Good luck with your thread!

Examples of what can be posted here:

Cool biking stories you would like to share.
Interesting videos you've shot or put together.
Reviews or opinion pieces on bikes, kit, etc.
FAQs, guides or HOWTO instructional articles.
Bike related project details and photos.

Before posting your thread, please consider the following:

Whatever you post, make sure it is original content. Don't simply repost something you found somewhere else, that's not the idea here.
Please make sure your post is informative and well written. You should aim to post in article form, taking into consideration your readers and how you are going to get and keep them interested.
If posting photos of a project, please also write about it.
If posting a video, try to include a detailed description and/or preview screenshots.

As far as I'm aware bike pictures are meant to go in bike talk, where they will dissapear quickly.

If this is the case why hasn't Goose's post been moved? And I just looked back and my post about my new bike has been moved to Show and Tell.

This is the information I'm going on.

And I suppose they are quite original seen as it's my bike and my written review.

I really can't see how you can disagree.

If some user comes and posts a thread like this:

'Look at this bike, it's well mint isn't it I just found it on this custom bikes website, what do you think?'

or

'Just been on the Google video thingy, found this video containing a fair few stunts, wheelies etc. It's pretty good, check it out.'

Then I'd put that in Found on the 'net.

If the post went thusly:

'Here's my new bike, it's a Honda CBR600RR and it has around 6000 miles on the clock, and an aftermarket can, picked it up last night for a cool £3k. Rode it home, it's like a dream come true, every corner seems almost too easy and it's fast as fudge! Sounds the nuts too, what do you guys think?'

or

'Just got back in from my stunting session on the KTM, was fun we went to the old warehouse area downtown and messed about, here's a few video clips of the things we got upto. Comments welcome.'

Then I would put that in Show and Tell.

I see where you are coming from and I can see the point you are trying to put across but in my mind it's right how it is.

Just put them in GBC. If they're interesting enough, someone'll move them to Show and Tell. If they're not that interesting, they'll move down quickly.

Some things haven't been moved out of Show and Tell cos no-one's been bothered to yet.

I'd leave Found On The Net for non-bike stuff. Hence it being in the offtopic section.

There was before, the 'Private Forums' seems to be open at certain times only. Quite well camouflaged too.

My point still stands.

Now then. I don't know whether this has been newly added, or is being tested, but there seems to be a way to do this now.

On the main page, each sub-forum under Bike/Offtopic etc. now has little X's beside them. Condense the forums you don't want to browse on the main page by clicking the X, then click "View all topics". I only seem to view the posts in the expanded sections. Thumbs Up Still can't combine Workshop and Geek Zone, as they're in different sections, or is there a way of doing this I haven't found yet? EDIT - Just read Korn's thread. Joy. - EDIT

This is EXACTLY what I requested above. If it was already there and I hadn't noticed, I apologise. If it got added yesterday, then I'm going to feel slightly proud that my request has been noted, and action taken. I do realise that it may just be coincidence, but that doesn't improve my own sense of self importance now does it.
