Hi everyone! Forum looks good spent a while looking at posts etc geting useful information from peeps.

Looking at getting back into the world of biking, previously owned a 50cc moped then up to an Aprilia RS 125 for over a year. Past my test two years ago this august.

Looking at a Honda RVF 400 seen one for sale localy had a quick peak, got in contact with seller and seeing it this saturday.

Asked seller a few questions on the phone, the bike is not restricted to 33bhp which will be an extra cost of around £160 fitted i believe? The bike is on a 1999 T-plate and currently has 22,000miles/35,000km on the clock which i am a little concerned with! Is this high mileage for the bike? Will parts need replacing soon?

Also a question which uve probably heard a lot on this forum (sorry) but what checks are there to look out for on this model of bike?

The bike overall looks good condition full MOT new tires fitted etc. I obviously do have a basic checklist as from owning previous bikes i.e chain, sprockets,pads,discs etc.

If anyone could answer these questions it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Mileage sounds ok, the Honda V4 lump is bulletproof. Look out for a chewed up accentric chain adjuster where people have used a screwdriver and hammer instead of the proper C-spanner. Original fairings add alot of value and in decent nick, MPH clock instead of the imported KMH.. the more standard it is the more its worth! How much do the dealers want?

Well its a private seller, he seems quite desperate to sell it. Well he didnt say a price on the phone and didnt realy know. How much do you think its worth? Thanks

A mint RVF can fetch a lot more than £2k, but personally I think they're way over valued - you are paying a lot for the sake of having a model with slightly different looks.

On a bike there's always some stuff that will need replacing some time soonish, you've just got to ascertain which bits on this specific bike 1.
