I was browsing the net bored one night at work and found a good web site for bike reviews / road tests.

Most new bike reviews can be found on the MCN web site, but this contains reviews of bikes of yesteryear Thumbs Up

I hope its useful for those 'what bike' threads Laughing

Note that this seems to be a collection of links to reviews from various sites.

The bit on the first page worried me a little:
Quote:
The SXV 550 is the most powerful 550 supermoto ever. With 70 bhp and a dry weight of 128kg (282 lbs.) the power-to-weight ratio is unbelievable.

Well, that'd be because they haven't been any other 550cc off road style bikes. The power to weight ratio isn't exactly good compared to a 500cc 2 stroke, etc etc.
(So consider that what you're reading may just be marketing BS, in some cases).

It will always be down to an individuals own likes or dislikes when rating or reviewing a new product, what makes their decision right or wrong?

Yes it may have a more corporate influence in some cases. A review is never gonna be completely impartial.

That power to weight ratio is easily believable. There are plenty of cr500 and similar supermotos with much better power to weight ratios.

Someone knowledgeable about bikes should realise this; someone copying and pasting a press release may not think about it.

Indeed, I believe this was around what my point was Smile.
