breaking in new boots

[it really is that quick]

had some oxstar evo rx boots for about a month, but finding it really difficult to break them in always miss shifting and generally riding like a complete spaz at the mo. put old boots on and am fine.

tried wearing them around house for a day before riding in them doing riduculous strecthing and squating exercises in them. I can wear them all day if walking/ out and about down town?

do they just take ages to break in or does anyone have any short cuts.

I've heard about rubbing candle wax or soap into the creases in the boots to make them more supple, but I think that wearing them round the house etc will do you well.

Luckily I've never had a problem with wearing in my boots (Sidi Vertigo, and Sidi Black Rain). Never had any Oxtar, so no experience there

Get them soaking wet and walk about in them 'til they are dry. Wear two pairs of thin socks to prevent blisters.

That's how the army do it, they take their new recruits off on a route march which will include going through a river or loads of wet grass, then march them back. By the time they get back evryone has dry, broken in boots.

It could just be that they are a slightly different shape to your old boots. In which case softening them up isn't going to help a great deal. Your head need re-programming for the new boots to catch the controls in exactly the right place. Only time on the bike will help.

You may find it helps to adjust gear lever a bit - maybe you just need more room for them if they're bigger.
