I love my bike - Its individual, its shiny and you can hug it.

The thing is that I have been having a fluke bad run at the moment and have been spending a lot of time on the V Raptor which I very much enjoy Very Happy

The battery usually needs a recharge after winter as I dont do the miles - I forgot - I got stranded. The carb stuck open (not mechanical - fluky bit in the fuel of something) stranded, fuel everywhere and resulting bike hospital bills. And I have recently been having sticky back break problem - we have done a bit of cleaning the mecanics have cleaned it but still today it decided at 30mph (thank god it wasnt any faster) to seeze up and perform its very own emergencey stop (yes mr ford you were traveling a little close behind me!). They think its the pistons and seals (not covered by warenty) - you cant get them from brembo breaks you have to buy the whole unit (which if it had gone would have been covered)!

Anyway is something trying to tell me its time to move on to the bigger bike (I am a big person need to look not big on my bike = bigger bike) I was thinking of getting in due time? and being as the speed triple has not been made in pink this year - which one?

Or should I just think that the bad luck will go away and wait a while......

Brembo do not sell the seals as they are scared of someone screwing up fitting them and then sueing them. However apparently Yamaha do list the seals for the 4 pot Brembo caliper on the front of the SZR660. Maybe worth checking with a Yamaha dealer to see if the same caliper is used on the back of the Raptor as on the SZR, and if seals are available

Mind you, Brembo calipers are not much more expensive new than some of the Japanese makes want just for a set of seals

As to the V Raptor, go for it. You know is makes no sense

All the best

Keith

The mechanics say that they can get some BMW bits to do the job but by the time you have got the new bits the cost of buying and replacing is just less then a new unit which you can fit yourself. I will ask the hippy to check Yamaha and see.

Your right - I think this summer is going to be the hippys summer of test riding! (as long as its not round the centre of Bristol Crying or Very sad ).

Of course you do know what will happen - the hippy will go test driving with me and end up falling for a new two wheeled, nippy little bimbo bike! Very Happy

I think the hippy would have something to say about that - about the only thing I can bribe him with is an MV Augusta and I dont think it is an option!

Not only could he get something else but there would be the option of a ride on a V-Raptor whenever he wants! Problem is he hasnt yet test ridden anything that has come close to the V-Raptor and he has test driven a lot - its kind of a sport for him.
