Theory test age

You can do your theory test when your 16 can't you? I will be going for my restricted license when i'm 17 and i want to get the theory part out of the way as i have been revising hard

i know you can do A theory test when you are 16 because you can get a full moped license when you are 16...

Just had a look, and I don't know about moped, but it clearly says you HAVE to be at least 17 in order to take a theory, so I think that will mean cars, bikes and mopeds etc.

No, the lad is right, for mopeds, it's 16:

'Mopeds and tractors
If you want to ride a moped you can take your theory test when you are 16, but again you must make sure you have a valid provisional licence.

If you are 16 and already have a provisional licence for an agricultural vehicle or a moped, this will give you provisional entitlement to drive a car when you are 17.'

So yeah, you CAN take it.

For full motorcycle you must be old enough to take the Practical test.

The CBT does not require the theory.

So, can i do it now (i'm only 16) or do i have to wait?
DSA website says - You can take your theory test once your provisional licence becomes valid.If you want to ride a moped you can take your theory test when you are 16, but again you must make sure you have a valid provisional licence.

you can do a moped test, allows you to ride a 50cc with no L plates

I have just passed my car one so may book my bike theory if its not to different so i don't forget all the revision.

Well, i decided to e-mail the DSA and this was the reply i got -

Dear James

Thank you for your e-mail of 9 March about taking the theory test.

As long as you have a valid A1 provisional bike licence and not a moped
(cat P) licence you will be able to take the theory test.
