Hi,

I recall this mentioned before but does the torque vary as the revs climb or does it stay the same. Does it also vary from gear to gear?.

Regards,
Kevo.

torque should in theory be constant throughout the rev range, but in practice it climbs slightly throughout the rev range because bike engines get more efficient as the revs rise up to a point, then it all tails off.

it doesn't vary at all from gear to gear.

Isn't it on one type of engine that it gave out a flat torque rating throughout the rev range?
was it like the rotart engine or something,
or am i just getting confused again.

Hi

Torque does vary, but not by great amounts. However as you tune an engine you will land up with the torque being more concentrated over a limited rev range, as most things you do for tuning work over a limited rev range (such as exhausts)

Power is torque x rpm, so generally increases until torque starts to drop off rapidly

All the best

Keith

Yep, but at least it would be easier to warm up your hands on the engine at traffic lights, and with an afterburner nobody would dare tailgate you

All the best

Arn't jet engines (simple ones that is)
like the ones they fitted onto a push bike.
Have alot less moving parts than that of a Jet Engine (small ones that is)
