CSCS green card ? One for the builders.

I am going to need a cscs card to get onto building sites from april apparently, it sounds like yet another money making scheme to me, but its the law !
So, has anyone done the health and safety test ?
I am going to book it, but will i need to read the book or buy the CD ?
I am assuming the test will be easy, just a bit of common sense.And £17.50 in the governments pocket.

think this idea was pushed by larger agencies a few years ago under the pretence of making sites safer. the only think was it was only people like blue arrow and laboursite that put people through it so they were hoping to have a monoploy.

as for the questions they're going to be dead easy

Q1. can you write a cheque for the sum of £17.50?

Q2. what address do you want your card sent to?

buy the book and read it, it'll just be common sense with possible a bit of legal/ health and safety or COSH.

not had to do anything for it so far, working for a heating contractor as gas installer.

Yes, the CSCS card health and safety test is damn easy, very straight forward.

If your employer does not offer to get you your book, pm me, I am sure I can dig out the book and send it to you for the price of postage.


Best to have the book in all honesty, just so you know what its about. Some people failed when I was in doing mine.
