Just listen to everything that is said to you and you will be ok! If your not sure about something, just ask you instructer!
Out of the two options, trainers if you must, but i would say get some propper boots Thumbs Up

Just relax Very Happy

The CBT is not a test, it's training. Your instructor will talk you through everything you need to know and as long as you follow what they say, you'll be just fine. You get a few hours to get used to the machine, then a few more on the roads to show you payed attention. You'll be so excited that the "big" things (gears, clutch, throttle) just magically work, in my experience. The hardest part for me was to remember things like cancelling my indicator Embarassed.

Wear whatever you're comfortable with, but the more protection your clothing offers, the better. Trainers offer none, but if moving your feet up and down (that's what they'll be doing most of the day) feels really uncomfortable otherwise you're probably better off with them.

Overall, though, you can't go too wrong. As long as you treat it like a nice day out and not like a track day, there'll be no trouble Wink

Have fun... enjoy it...

pack summat vaguely waterproof if you can just in case Smile

As for footwear.. I wore the sturdiest shoes I could find.... shortly after DAS lessons started I bought a pair of boots instead. So dpeends if trainers are tougher than shoes... but you'll be pretty unlucky to have a major scrape on your CBT Smile

Listen carefully and do what they instructor says Smile

Surprising how many idiots they get who try to razz off round the training pad... and get sent home early!

Listen and Relax is about all the advice you need mate, it's easy.

Check regards the trainers, we had two blokes sent home when I did mine as the Instructors wouldn't take them out with trainers on.

Overall it's a good day out, listen relax and learn.

It's a piece of piss Thumbs Up

Oh and welcome to the Unpredictable world of Biking.

Listen to your instructor, try to relax, but above all enjoy it.
As jok said, it's training not a test...

Your instructor will go thru things at your pace, so if you don't understand or having any difficulty, don't be afraid to ask. Cos when it comes down to it, it's in your instructors interests to make sure that you're a safe rider before you go out on the roads Wink

Just make sure you come back here and let us know how it goes??
Good luck Thumbs Up

I did my CBT this time last year - Don't forget to take gloves...like I did....:s
As the other guys say - just relax and enjoy the day. Take in what they teach you and don't be a knob and try to razz off!
good luck - not that you'll need it and have fun on the road!

Did my cbt mid november but on a scoot Embarassed cos i had planned to get a car later while running a cheap scoot in the mean time (how plans change when you ride on two wheels, Im already starting my DAS lol). I couldnt belive how easy it was!

You need to be pretty stupid/dangerous to fail the cbt. Worst thing for me was I had to wait a week til i got my scoot which was painful Thumbs Down

Completed my CBT, it was quite easy but the place i was with did everything by the book. The only thing i had trouble with was the u turn but this was mainly because of the scooter, i was on a Honda sky and it was much too small for me.

The guys at the centre were cool and had a laugh, just glad i have got it now.

I wouldnt worry about doing it again, plus when you finally get on the road it is really fun, thats the bit i enjoyed most.

Someone there was on their 3rd and he passed this time. There was another guy that was sent home after the car park training as he couldnt balance it properly. There were 6 of us alltogether so it lasted a long 6.5 hours.

You should enjoy your CBT and any lessons.
I always make sure my pupils have fun too.

I have made a lot of good friends with pupils, that have stayed friends after passing.
Someweekends at our bike school it looks like a bike shop with ex pupils visiting on new bikes.

My amature way of describing some small ben sherman boots, but they aren't really boots but seem bigger than shoes so it is the only way i could think to describe it at that worried time Mr. Green
