I hate to be the one to say this, but:

Try using the search facility - there are loads of threads about insurance, and the general consensus is that it can vary hugely between individuals, even if they have similar criteria. Look through Bikemart/Biketrader, ring all of the freephone numbers, and gets yer quotes.

Spend a few hours on the net or the phone to insurance companies and get quotes for different bikes. Takes a long time, but thats the way its done.

Mito and Rs are expensive to insure because lots get nicked and even more get crashed.

Less NSRs get nicked because no one wants them.

Trail bikes are almost as expensive to insure because the get nicked and used as field bikes, or owners trash them off road and claim they were nicked.

Naked bikes are cheaper because they are slower with less plastic to trash.

The discounts that you can get from having an approved alarm/immobiliser is at the discretion of the broker/insurer, so again, the only that you can truly find out what difference it makes is by make some phone calls.

A £300 alarm probably won't save you £300 on your premium, and it certainly won't prevent your bike from being loaded onto a van...probably best to spend your money on more physical deterrents.

Older bikes can be considerably cheaper, I was looking at about half the price for insurance on an nsr that was 10 years old, as opposed to a new one (TPO btw, so value of bike not an issue)

650 Raptor, Wiltshire, £400 and something, garaged, fully comp.

And as I said on another thread:-

You know what – I am 30 this year. That means another giant leap towards CHEAPER INSURANCE!

You know this getting old lark – I don’t see what the problem is!!
