Recently chopped in my old router for a DGL-4300. Most impressed so far, but after nosing around the firmware update sites it seems D-link operate a localised firmware policy, the EU firmware is currently at 1.4 whilst the US release is at 1.6 and a fair bit more advanced, not been able to get any comment from D-link as to when or if 1.5/1.6 will reach this side of the atlantic though.

Anyone here used a US/other firmware on D-link hardware? The only differences I can think of that may apply are wireless frequencies (and I'm unsure even there, isn't 2.4-2.4835GHz standard worldwide?). Can't find any mention via google which is a disturbing sign Confused

Gotta agree with that.

I flashed the BIOS on my Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9, and it totally screwed it. It would randomly restart itself and games would crash to the desktop or run jerky as hell. I had to revert back to a previous version to sort the probem, so as mick said, if it's working OK as it is I'd probably just leave it.

There a fair new functions in the updated firmware that I'd find useful. In general I tend to agree with you, I certainly don't update without feeling that either I need to or it would be a benefit.

If you can download the existing firmware to your pc or get it from the net go for it, wether the box will let you downgrade the firmware or not i dont know.
