Actually, not all USB 1.1 ports will work with a USB 2 device.

Some AMD motherboards have onboard USB ports which will only work properly with 1.1 devices. Some USB 2 devices will work in them, but not all. In particular, large USB storage devices will not work with older AMD chipsets.
Easily fixed with a PCI USB card.

I only know this because my PC suffers from this issue. Smile
