Heres the thing -

I have grand theft auto for the pc which I had installed and was playing quite happily. Then my laptop hard drive died on it's ass and I needed to get a new one which I did.

Problem 1 - I have tried to install the game again but the DVD drive wont read the disc. I have tried updating the drivers etc but to no evail. I tried on my mates pc and it works so I basically copied the contents of the disc onto my laptop and tried to install from there.

Problem 2 - When trying to install direct from the latop I run the setup.exe and get this error immediately:

I have done everything in the list but its still showing the same error.

Can anyone help on either point please as this is doing my head in and I'm really in the mood to shoot people Very Happy

Cheers Thumbs Up

What version of Windows are you running? Also, is this a real copy?

It's XP pro SP2 and yeah it's a cosher copy. I think part of the reason it wont install is because the disc is a bit scratched (bloody kids) and the drive dont like it.

I'm probably going to get a new copy of it.

If you think it's the disc, then just write everything on that disc to a new one if possible and try installing then.
