more new rider questions,

ok so im a shorter person about 5''6 with a 29'' inside leg.

Its been said im 2 short for a lot of bikes, not sure how true this is.

what would you recomend. im starting to look for a 125 will give me enough power for what i need (its really for use to get around) and of course following the 2nd hand cheap first bike rule.

(iv only seem to find posts on taller people)

Well if your only looking to get around on a bike, a CG would do perfectly. Although of course you havnt given too much info.

Im around the same height and have never had any problems sitting on 125's. (apart form big off road type bikes, the come up to my shoulder Laughing )

On the bigger bikes as long as you can get one foot down its usually enough. Im on tip toes with both feet down and can be dodgy to move it around whilst sitting on it, easily over come by standing next to it and pushing it to manover.

um...a car is alot more practical than a bike mate Very Happy
but anyway, a CG would probably be good if you just need to get about...

Well it all depends on what and where you want to use it.

Cars of course have their advantages but also their disadvantages , ie I could well have bought a car to the South but , the lack of parking everywhere other than permit parking makes a car not so good.

Also in some big cities say Manchester the travelling time can be 1/4 what it is in the car though with a corresponding increase in the risk/danger level.

You need to be looking for bikes with a seat height of about 790mm - 800mm .

I am about an inch or 2 taller than you, but I have short legs. (wife is shorter, but has longer legs).

Proper boots will help also.

I have to have both feet on the ground.

On another point, when I was a learner I had a CG, a very very good bike. Even considering getting another as a winter hack for Winter 2007.

I learnt on CBR125 which I could easily get my feet down on. I'm 5'3" with 29" leg. I now ride a GS500F which I'm tippy toes with both feet but have had no problems apart from parking - you soon learn to get off and push! Very Happy

Personally in your situation I'd get your DAS passed and look at something like a Honda CB-1, very low seat height (even I can get both feet flat on the floor)
