I've got a laptop that only has a VGA out connection, no s-video or anything like that. Is there any way of connecting it to a very standard bush TV with only scart and co-axial connections?

The s-video connection is the main advantage of the more expensive laptops i'm looking at over the cheaper ones, so could save me a bit if I can just use the VGA on the new laptop too.

Rick.

you'd be better off getting a monitor to connect to the vga
it will be a better picture and less expensive if you get a cheap one off ebay

pc text on tv's isnt very clear

if you are wanting to play dvds on the laptop thru the tv, it wd be cheaper to get a cheap dvd player than get a widgit that converts vga to something the tv can understand

i wdnt see getting a laptop with s video being much of an advantage over one that doesnt, as using a monitor for text stuff, or a dvd player for movies, wd still be better

If the laptop only has a VGA out, you'll have to get a TV which also has a VGA out, I think. Most LCD TVs have them these days, so check out the specs if you're considering buying one.

Otherwise, you would need a different output from your laptop, unfortunately.

he wont need a tv with s video, he will just need a lead that converts s video to composite or scart
