Having become thoroughly fed up with the amount of threads that turn into 1-on-1, or 1-on-the-world style arguments, I have had a thought. Why not remove the "instant-karma-loss" effects of posting in F&FW?

My theory is that then people who want to bitch slap each other can do so there, and I can only read about it when I want to. I know the forum is not meant for fighting, in which case there should be no F&FW section at all. Having a section in order to keep the threads away from the general public, that encourages people not to use it seems strange to me.

This would mean that people who want to argue over who is and isn't a cunt, can post as often as they want, even starting the thread in F&FW rather than wasting space in the decent parts of the forum.

No doubt there is something I haven't considered that makes this futile, but I don't know what that is yet.

Cheers

The problem is that if you get people continually at people's throats, even if it's in a different section it usually does move into the main sections, as you can see.

Yep. If the thread then gets moved to F&FW, it stops people posting for fear of losing Karma, and then it all resurfaces elsewhere.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I would hope that if people could actually finish off, or even continue forever in F&FW, then a lot of the pointless bickering would stop elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I like a poinltess bicker as much as the next man. I almost come to expect it in the offtopic chat sections. It's when it gets into the bike areas that it bother me (personally).

EDIT: Shaun, you muppet. Why do you have to go and ruin every thread..... Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing

It was like that, basically.

It does seem to work better like this.
