Avi to Divx

Anyone know of any goog free programs for converting avi to divx?

I imagine Virtualdub would do that for you. Of course a DivX is just an avi encoded with a particular codec...

I'll give it a go. My dvd player won't play Avi but it will play Divx which is why I want to convert it.

Fair enough. You'll need to download DivX from https://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/ as well before VirtualDub will let you encode a file in DivX format. VirtualDub isn't the most user friendly piece of software ever created, but it does the job eventually
