Too much petrol cannot get to the carburettor, because of the float chambers in the carbs.

They are basically containers with a ping pong ball inside, and when the ping pong ball reaches the top of the chamber (cos its floating on the fuel) it shuts off the flow to the chamber.

Personally I would strip and clean the carbs if the floats were getting stuck.

I would make very sure the engine is flooding before I start to take the carbs apart though to be honest. Smile

Did your dad ride it to the tyre place or did he shove it in is car?

What makes you think there's too much petrol? Can you smell it or can you see it coming out?

Chck the spark plug first, give it a good clean and make sure there is a spark.

All of this will do absolutly nothing to solve the carbs being buggered, mind.

First of all check for a spark.

If there's no spark, and there's fuel everywhere, then you need to take apart the carbs, clean them up, and put them back together.

I bought my mito a few weeks ago and can't use it.

There is a prob with the carb.

It was clogged and when the last owner took it for it's mot they couldn't get the bike to start.

They took the carb out to clean it out and didn't set the carb back up as they were messing about the mixture.

Is there oil comming out of exhaust or blue smoke?

Yeah.

Undo the drain screws, does fuel come out?

Whether or not it does, you'll have to take them apart and give them a good clean (not with water..) and put them back together.

Always strange when you post the same questions of two different forums, get the same answers, yet on one forum you don't have a problem anymore, while on another you do....
