With the sucess of the TRF rideout a few weeks ago, I was eagarly awaiting the next time I could go off-roading again, and when Korn said that he was intrested in going for a ride I decided I would try and do the same route.

So I got out my OS map and with the help of some pink pens some scissors and a plastic wallet made my own map and map holder, sorted.

So we leave earlyish about half 10.

Obviously with much fannying about on my part and getting lost it took us a while to get to the start, but we found it in the end .

I wont go into much detail about the ride so ill just skip to the good bits .

First puddle and its a biggy, much bigger than beofre I guess due to the copious ammounts of rain we have had.

The puddle behind me was about 1 and and a half 2 feet deep, and when your not expecting it it comes as quite a shock, hence why I stalled trying to get out of it . Korn decided to go round the big girls blouse .

So bombing along go faster than I did last time, due to now having more confidance and also trying not to go too slow for korn who I know is uber l33t at off roaing .

The 1st Ford goes well, here korn uses the feet down technique causing maxmimum splash back.

Much bounding about ensued but I had to keep stopping and checking my map to make sure we were on the right track, probably the only bad thing about the day, but I reckon if I did the trail again I would be able to do most without stopping.

Went past a cop car that happened to be parked in of the Byways we were on, and the fact that korns brakes werent working much shiftyness insued, not that we had a reason to be worried we were both 100% legal

Once again we get to devils highway, it starts off easy enough just a gravel track but gets alot more intesting later on. here I hope Korn comes a cropper.

Was pretty lucky because if I had come off a metre before I would have been swimming. To get the bike out I had to stand in the pool of mud which came to well over my knee, thus filling my boot, and all to the sound of "she fell over", cheers korn .

More mud more fords and people shouting at us becuase we were on their land, though on the map it didn't say whos it was. we did stop and show him the map but he said it was private, meh.

One more crazy lady and ford full of fishermen who I'm sure were more than impressed with us scaring off the fish . And we were done and back beofre 4 o'clock. Not bad .

Had a great day, go a bit lost and wet and apart from the stopages checking the map had a great day, not bad for only using half a tank pf petrol .

Also foun out on the way back that the bike does very nice power wheelies .

I've got an XR400 as well...if that's what Korn's got, we don't have anything quite as fun as that here but i'll post some pics next time i take her to the desert!

Its reading stuff like this that makes me wana pick up a cheap crosser.

I learned how to ride a bike in fields and then used to ride up and down the Ridgeway and thats how I learned the most valuable riding skills.

Off road with out a doubt takes a lot more skill. That looksgreat I wana ride through a ford right now .

Ive bin going offroad a lot recently, its rather fun in the wet too, on the isle of wight there is a huge lond trail that runs pretty much 10+ miles. Over every terrain you can think of, you can stik to the path or take to the hills and fields either side. the best bit is at the very top of the biggest hill climb, theres a flat plain with a huge bomb crater, thats pretty huge, loads of bikes use it and its now a well shaped jump, bomb it along, drop in and launch out the other side.

Maybe some of you mainlnad guys wud be up for some offroading some time on the isle oif wight. and by then i shud have a splash guard too as the last tme evry puddle i went through splashed my spark plug and caused it to spark to the cap and radiator, causing no combustion at all, so it was get off, dry the plug then go agen every 5 mins.
