A friend of mine has just had his full car licence taken off him for getting 6 points in his first two years after passing his test. He wants to take his bike test, will he have to redo his two years probation or will he after passing his test just have to finish the two months remaining from his previous test? I was of the understanding he would haved to retake his car test to get his previous licence back, and doing his bike test would mean having the two year probation period unless he did his car test again. Is that right?

Well I know that if you dont get any points then you only have one probation period ie you only have to be clean for 2 years after passing your first full test. Not sure whether this is reset if its been revoked during your first period though. Question

If you are banned or disqualified you have a 2 year probation period just like when you first pass your test. My friend was banned and he is now banned again after 6 points.

Hope that helps. Wink

Really? I thought you had to retake a test in one of the vehicle classes that you previously held a full licence for to get it back? If this is true he's lost £57 because he's booked his bike test for the coming tuesday and his car retest is the saturday after that!!
