Hi,

I'm a Belgian guy but I haven't been able to find a good local forum, so I figured I'd go look across the pond for some advice.

I want to get into biking, but don't really have much experience at all. Am now taking lessons and it's going well. Everybody advised me to get a light model first to get used to it. A friend of mine came up with what looks like a great deal on a Suzuki bike (see attachment). I was going to go for a good 2nd hand, but this looks like a good deal.

There's not really any type/model information for this bike, so I haven't been able to find any reviews. What do you guys think? Is this something worth considering as a first bike?

Sorry the add is in Dutch, but the relevant info should be clear

i know nothing about the bike you are thinking of getting, but if you get a 2nd hand bike, you will be able to sell it for a similar amount that you bought it for so you wont lose money on it. So when you eventually want to get a bigger bike, you will be able to get a better one.

It is a good idea to get a small bike to start with, but later you will be surprised to find out that some good big bikes are as cheap but better than small bikes.

that makes a lot of sense. It's just that this bike seems so cheap. I can't really seem to find any decent 2nd hand ones for a price like that

Hmm,

We have Intruder 125cc's over here.

Doubt the 150cc is much different.

That's a VERY VERY good deal for the bike brand new.

Make sure it's not a clone, and its a geniune Suzuki.

You will need to keep it clean and polishes, as there's a lot of chrome to go wrong.

As long as everything's above board I can't see anything that would make it a bad deal, if it's what you want then that's a stunner of a deal.

No idea what belgian 2nd hand market is like but you'd probably get your money back in a couple of years if the deal ends.

D'oh. Turns out that (1) it is a clone. The motor is suzuki, but the frame is Chinese. And (2) this lot is all sold out. They only have the 250cc but that is 600 euros (400 pounds) more. Think I'll give it a miss then...

I started off like that. I bought a Hyosung, which is Korean with a 125 Suzuki engine. Rode it for 8 months and sold it - gave me good start and practice at very low cost. Hyosung I must say are not bad and picking up good reputation fast like Korean cars. Yours seems to be a Chinese version (and there are many out there). I would definitely stay awy from the Chinese - they will ride fine but you will see yourself in the garage very often, with greater rusting problems. The build quality is very low. They might become quite good in the future but would not reccomend it at this stage.

If you are looking for cheap second hand, I am sure you can buy mainstream brands for reasonable price. Otherwise I can persoanlly reccommend Hyosung as a starter bike.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Muzaffar (and the other guys who replied to this thread). I will look into Hyosung. The 2nd hand market in Belgium seems quite active, but there's not that many 125cc models around. Anyway, there's no rush, but next time a good deal like this one comes along, I might just go for it.
