I once saw 16 of them ride in formation in Manchester down an empty street.

Was funny as fuck.

Actually, for cutting across town traffic and for following chav scum on pushbikes or on foot, they're probably the most ideal tool. Chav isn't going to be able to ride above 30-35mph and if they decide to cut down footpaths and into housing estates, they can go where cars and bigger bikes can't.

I can see the appeal for town centre use.

Now, if they started to hand them out to provincial coppers... Laughing

The police dont use bikes for speed chases bro.

They are probably a cheaper and more usefull means of patroling city centers. Being able to get through traffic easier etc... They can probably get to a scene faster than a car that has to wait for other drivers to get out the way, while the ped just blasts straight through...

Fecking fantastic idea Laughing Legendary. I'd give the bloke who rides it a pint, to be fair i think he will have earnt it Wink

I'd rather use a police supermoto, that would be cool and could get around fiddly little areas well!

One force was using 250 enduro bikes for a while. Used them for chasing after neds on stolen mopeds. You can imagine them off riding on some waste ground somewhere, hear a siren coming from somewhere then a big dirt bike appears over the top of the next bing, ten feet in the air, engine roaring, with a copper on it. Pure class Thumbs Up

If I was razzing along and I got overtaken on the outside by a police RS250 with blue lights flashing, I'd be so impressed I'd pull over Laughing .

Unless I'd drunk lots of red bull in which case I'd prolly race him or something - that'd be funny Very Happy.

Have seen the police on off road stuff quite often recently in North Yorkshire. The yellow jacket and white helmet are still a bit obvious.

theyve got a police xr650 on the isle of wight, there was a gang of bike thieves who were taking off cross country side whenever ford fiesta equipped plod showed up so they got that to chase em Very Happy genius! as for the police ped, i think its great, clearly not intended for traffic policing which is relativly unimportant as far as im concerned anyway and is a cheap quick method of getting from a-b in a busy spot mucho respecto Thumbs Up

Just saw this lunchtime two "Traffic wardens" in full gear checking cars near my work and a pair of silver CG 125's parked up nearby.

True but then you would need to be a police rider with all that in tales rather than just a CBT muppet on a twist n go.

Even if the police riders on them have full licences I would bet good money on them not been of the same standard as the normal police riders as that sort of training costs a small fortune.

Top idea for getting about town quick and for replacing the bobby on a bike type of policing.

It is probably one of the most efficient vehicles the police are ever going to use in the city, the petrol lasts forever and it can get through anything.

It is also unlikely they are restricted as the police officers probably have full licences anyway. Smile
