When you come across police car at winding, do you slow down?
Today I was enjoying winding road at about 80-90km/h. Then suddenly I came across with patrol car(1box) at corner.
I became nervous and slow downed, and spoiled the fun. I was afraid of being U-turned and chased secretly. Yes I am chicken ...
Have you ever come across police car at wingding? Do you keep on having fun even after that?

Plus what a awkward riding.... ((Any advise is welcomed)))

I find that even if I'm not speeding there's a brief moment of panick when I see a police car. I usually sit bolt up right, braking hard and gritting my teeth whilst trying to look overtly casual, (whistling and looking in my mirrors etc).
Then I give them a shifty sideways glance to see if they were looking at me suspiciously. Either way I then get on the gas and take the next side road just in case! Thumbs Up

dodsi and I were once riding down the A1 at around 80mph when suddenly all the cars including this Golf gti overtaking us started slowing down to just below 70mph. (70mph limit in the UK on dual carriageways)

We had already seen it miles ahead but know from experience it's perfectly alright to just cruise gently past at 80mph. So we just kept on going at the same speed and went past it - sorted and with minimal hassle Thumbs Up

Providing you show good lane discipline and move back in after they won't mind as you are not making a big show and dance of going faster than the speed limit.

Try moving to the outside of your lane when going around a bend. So for example if doing a left hander, move to the right of your lane i.e. just inside the white centre line (but not so far as to ride in the muck in the centre of the road). This will give you a better field of view of whats around the bend as you can't see nearly so much when hugging the inside corner.

I upgear or pull in the clutch in, if your not making much noise you will get ignored, even at low speed if your making a racket you will get much more attention.

Same thing here mate, done that and they followed me which got me even more paranoid so i was having to double check every thing.

I just said I forgot my atm card Laughing

Another time we were sat across the road and the cops drove past now me and my mate were pratting about, now I will be honest and say that I had no insurance or tax on my bike (just bought it and instead of going home I thought I would show her off)

so I crapped my self and we got on our bikes and left pretty quickly now on our way up they passed us again and started to do a U turn.

So I went like a nutter down some alley way which unknown to me had stairs needless to say the bike didnt mind but I did as they were slippy as hell.

I then made my way back to the road that led past the the cross. And the min I pull out and started to slow down for the cross (its used as a round about). Who pull up behind me Shocked

It was a proper fill your pants moment chirped the siren I pulled over and they zipped passed I was like Shocked

Mr. Green that story built up to be nothing ay Wink

If I see one coming and I am making a bit too much progress, I will throw out the anchor.

Learned my lesson from last time when I tried to ease it off dead-subtle like. Turns out they were in the process of timing me over a fixed distance, if I had braked hard, they wouldn't have got me at all (as it was, I got the speed down under the ton, but only just!).

If I am at vaguely legal speeds, I just cruise past them as if I am a German tourist on a trip to the shops, you could almost imagine the Sam Browne belt and white helmet.

If they start following me, I'll take them on a grand-tour of wherever looks pointless, maybe do a few laps of a block just to see who gets bored first.

If they are going the other way i do just pin it to.

Once i was being chased by a lotus elise down the back roads between redhill in surrey and coulsdon (road which runs by m25)

Took a corner at 110, looked in the mirrors to see the lotus powersliding behind me.... just then a volvo patrol car comes round the bend from the other direction, still have the drivers look of pure horror burned into my memory Shocked managed to tighten my line to avoid him as did the lotus and we took different turns at the next crossroads.

I never speed past them, but I don't really think about it when I do cross them to be honest.

When I've crossed traffic Police on bikes, they've nodded at me.

I had one "uh oh!" moment a couple of weeks ago though. I rode to work in the morning with my dark visor on, anticipating the sun in the afternoon, and crossed two traffic Police on bikes when I got near work, the first one nodded at me and the second didn't. I was thinking "I hope they don't turn around at that roundabout." Thankfully they didn't and I was carrying another visor on me anyway.

I have hidden from police before. I used to finish work at midnight in Glasgow city centre - by the time I got back to paisley it must have been time for them to go on a tea break. I am making enthusiastic progress in a 30 (maybe 70ish) which is part of the one way system in the town. No other cars around or so I thought - then I see the battenburg pattern appearing around the corner - knowing full well I would have been heard wayyy before I was seen. Car speeds off in opposite direction I dart in behind a warehouse (XS Superbowl area - travellers rest..). Engine off, lights off and just sit there - thinking up potential excuses if the ol' bill spotted me. "Bursting for a pish mate" was the best I could manage.

I was coming down a dual carriageway near to my house doing about 60 in a 40, as I move back into the left hand lane after overtaking a car I notice the bike cop sitting at the junction. Slowed down gently and noticed another bike cop further up the road so I dipped into a side street.

He followed me down and pulled me over and just checked my details and gave me a producer never mentioned my speed.

The best one I've seen was outside the stormy bike meet, 2 coppers standing at the side of the road so nobody could go out doing wheelies, next thing I know an 04 R1 comes flying past on the back wheel going at a damn fast pace and disappears off up the road, coppers just shook their heads and let him go. Laughing

I was doing 30 in a 30 when I came across a Gatso, I weaved in and out of the wider white lines to then focus on a police car going the opposite way.

said car put blue lights on and sped off...

I though pfft that was close... next thing I know it's done a U turn and is behind me...

So I pulled over eventually (couldn't find anywhere) and the driver asked me what I was doing, I said avoiding potholes... (dear god what an awful panic lie) whilst the passenger tucked his thumbs into his stab proof vest and paced around me, sat on my bike.

they then said something which I didn't here and walked off to the car... Sad bit OTT I though but heh,

I already had a producer at the time for falling off the day before Rolling Eyes

I went out to Bikesafe Event in Gloucester Sat/Sun had an assessed ride with a copper, was a little odd, but I got used to it and beforeI knew it was doing 100mph in places. got back did my report etc and copper didn't say anything about speed, he said he felt that I was the most honest person of the day having ridden how I would when out on my bike normally, which was fair enough.

However on my way home a convoy of 4 police bikes were behind me for quite a way, I was coking up all over the place and I could hear them picking holes in my riding in their heads... got all flustered Embarassed soo glad when they turned off..

so answer is, yes I do behave around coppers, though sometimes too late and sometimes it makes me go to pot.

Oh sorry. I was doing 50 in a 25 mph. Might not so fast at that bend.

Of course I would, like to keep my license. Besides, if I couldn't spot a big bright Volvo with flashing lights on the top, I'd think my road awareness wasn't good enough to be speeding in the first place (unless the copper was hiding in a bush with a speed gun of course).

Having said that, I'd rarely speed in 30s, 40s and 50s anyway.
