got insured with bennetts last week...not the cheapest but have used them in the past and thought i would give them ago...been waiting over a week for the paperwork to arrive, cant tax bike as havent got the paperwork...phoned them today to be told that there must have been a problem at the printers. then had the cheek to say they would send another cerificate out and not charge me the reprint fee!!!

got a bit annoyed at this and asked them what it would cost to cancel the policy...30% of policy plus £30...but if i stayed they would reimburse me the weeks insurance...all £1.92.

have told them that i am not a happy bunny and will be telling everyone what a lousy service they provide.....very fed up!

It doesn't mean you always will, but if they're making more off you they can spend more on customer service. Not always the case though, as we can see!

This is ILLEGAL

all insurance companies are regulated by the financial services authority (FSA)

they say any customer has a 14 day cooling off period to cancel the policy. any reason is acceptable.

the only exception is if you have made a claim.
call them and demand compensation for their lies. if they say know, inform them you will be contacting the FSA to register a complaint with them. this costs approx £70 to bennets, so they should start listening.

demand no less the £100 compensation. but remain polite and courteous throughout, but be forceful

Seriously, save your time. If you're just going to shout at them then you're just wasting money making a phone call. If you want to complain about anything then you don't want to be shouting, swearing or getting pissed off as you'll not get anywhere other than put on hold or hung up on.

ok was joking about the shouting bit...just sent them an email pointing out the way ive been treated.
asked to be contacted so will either get it sorted by speaking to them or by taking it to the FSA

a message to everyone.

always be nice (relatively) to the consultant. they can normally see if you've been messed around. if you are nice they think

"hey, i'll help this guy"

if you shout...

"what a prat. ok sir we need x, y, and z then we can do that."

happy hunting

ok final bit (promise)
i was nice to the person i spoke to earlier...even said "i know its not youre fault this has happened"...but i should point out she was the one telling me she was doing me a favour by not charging me a reprint fee...and she is the one that offered me £1.92 compensation...and she is the one that said i would be charged 30% of the policy plus £30 fee to cancel!

just got this off there website
Cancelling your policy
We or Bennetts may cancel this policy by giving you seven days’ notice by recorded delivery. We or
Bennetts will send notice of cancellation to your last known address. You must then send us or Bennetts
the certificate of motor insurance. We will then refund to you a proportionate part of your premium.
You may cancel this policy at any time by post at Bennetts Customer Services, 165 Corporation Street,
Coventry, CV1 1GY and returning your certificate of motor insurance. There is no cancellation fee for
cancelling within the first 14 days of receiving your policy documentation,
unless a total loss claim has
occurred. You will only pay for time on cover. Outside of this you may have to pay a cancellation fee and a
percentage of the remaining premium. As long as you have not made any claim under this policy we will
refund part of the premium. We make charges on the following scale.

quite looking forward to tomorrow now Laughing

not necessarily true
i have worked in customer service call centr jobs where the level of response is graded on how annoyed the customer sounds.

so no compensation if polite, £10 compensation if shouting and upset

but staff are allowed to hang up on you if you swear at them, so u have to get upset without swearing

I wasn't impressed with their prices the last two years, they are one of the more expensive insurers I've contacted, so I don't see them ever getting my business.

I had the misfortune to make a claim through Bennetts years ago. In my experience their nominated legal company were worse than awful.

Others may have had a better experience with Bennetts, but I've never had insurance with them since, and don't intend to! Thumbs Down
