Right here's the situation.

I took my bike apart to find out what was wrong with it, you know see if there is any pipes loose etc. and I decided to check the spark plug, as it is causing me problems anyway. Anyway, the spark plug suppressor (The cap that you have ontop of the spark plug and connects to the HT lead, it's amazing how many people didn't know what one was Laughing) totally fell apart in my hands, snapped in 3 places, and according to haynes, the spark plug is 'worn' Laughing. I was wondering:

a) If I bodged it back together, with electrical tape around it would it be safe to use? (As a temporary replacement)

b) Does anyone have or know somewhere that stocks these, that offer next day delivery? You know Kawasaki, making bike specific parts like todgers, then making them rare as well you know.

Cheers.

Oh and does anyone know what could have caused the snappage?

Thanks alot.

as long as the ht lead is connected to the plug you should be fine, I've even used a screw on one from a car on a bike in the past.

Heat and age are likely causes of it snapping.

Joe, just out of interest have you got any pictures off the tip of the spark plug?

I'd be interested to find out why it's eaten a spark plug in about a month.

I think it's because we didn't secure it in properly, and it must have rattled about abit, and then snapped. I need a proper spanner for it, so I'll try surface one.

But until then it's a new plug and cap and see how it goes. Thumbs Up

Oh and no pictures - my dongle refuses to work - cheap eBay shite. Sad

Im guessing from the fact the shaft is quite long that the plug is recessed some way into the head. ? In which case, bit late now, no way would I have bodged the old suppressor together, as if when you go to take it off it leaves bits in there it could be a nightmare to remove Confused

I had the end of a plug lead snap leaving virtually nothing to pull the snapped bit off with, and no way of getting a sparkplug socket over it. Was a bit of a awkward situation Shocked
