I got a 125 bike (Varadero), I just wanted to see if anybody was happy to hold on to it as it is cheap to run, gets you from A to B, cheap to insure. Thumbs Up and it looks like a 600

Still takes you for a ride out with friends providing they not go to fast, but hey who cares?

Or may be you still got L plates up and just couldn't be bothered to go for the test.

Let us hear your views please?

I had a 125 while I was learning but recently changed it to a 600 bandit. Put it this way I would never go back, I find the bigger bike so much more fun but its each to there own I guess.

Do you have your full bike license?

I've passed my test, and am still riding a 125 albeit a derestricted Honda NSR 125. I will be riding it until my restriction period is up in about 1 year and 11 months.

I've passed my test and have a derestricted NSR125. I'm getting a bigger bike but more because of the maintenance side of things than the speed side.
Plus i want to get as much back for my bike as possible, i do quite a few miles so i'm guessing it will depreciate a fair bit but i got it cheap so the plan is:
Sell my NSR, buy a low mileage SV off my mate pretty cheap, ride that around until my restrictions are up and hopefully i won't have any problems with it.
I know if i keep my NSR another year it'll probably be on about 30k miles, i can envisage lots of expensive things to do in that time so i reckon the SV will be cheaper in the long run.

I've got the Zephyr 750 and the XJR1300 but some days I'd love to still have my GS125, just for the sheer devilment of thrashing it about, hooning into corners and general mayhem that a 125 lets you get away with.

It could also do 120 miles on a tankfull (like the XJR) but the fill up only cost £4 (as opposed to the £17 of the XJR) Sad

Insurance was dirt cheap, parts next to nothing etc etc.

125's? - not just for learners.

I would be in need of another run around quite soon, as the KL's problems haven't been rectified and I'll be in need of another bike. Not sure what to go for though, I could buy a CG or what not (been considering another 400), wouldn't make any difference to my insurance and would be a good, economical commuter - maybe even a weekend bike if the weather's less than perfect. I could always get a slogan for my numberplate "My other bike's a Fireblade....no, really."

I have a varadero 125, Had it when I turned 17, rode it for 9 months putting 16000km on the clocks, put it in the shed when I passed my test and got an NSR125, as soon as the NSR is gone (tonight hopefully) the varadero is being MOT'd for my brother who turns 17 in july, fantastic bike, handles sooo well, lots of umph for a 125, just a bit top heavy with a full petrol tank.

I will be reinsured on it again, as will my dad for my back up bike. my dad is in love with the dero and want's to keep it forever.

I have a RS 125, Im still 17 but considered getting a bigger bike, but I think I will stick to this bike for at least a year as I dont really trust myself to handling a machine that can do 0-Ridiculous on any road no matter how small!!!

Plus my friends are still on 125's so I dont feel left out Razz

I would much rather have a 600cc bike that looks like a 125cc than a 125cc that looks like a 600cc Wink

Well I think the 125 Varadero looks smart, I looked at one of these when I was buying a bike to learn on but since it looked quite big and decided against one so yes I say keep it Thumbs Up

I had a CG which I loved, it had ace fuel consumption and everything
was soo cheap.

But, when it was windy, the bike was frightening to ride, also it was a farce having to turn the fuel thing on and off and the choke was in a stupid position which meant you had to leave your bike running with the centre stand on. There was no under seat storage whatsover.

Ohh thats another point it just had a centre stand not both.

Saying that, if I had the choice of just one, it'd be the centre stand.

I have a 125, problem is it looks like a 125 and is just as slow as a 125 and I've seen push bikes with fatter wheels on them.

Although it doesn't really sound like a 125, that has to count for something.

I loved my 125, but going to Derby and back made me question if it fitted my needs. I got a RVF400 and I must say I feel like I have more presence and a lot sturdier than on my 125.

If my 125 still fitted my needs I would be on it now, I loved it!

Had mine since jan 01, bought brand new. Got better things to waste my money on than buying a new bike at the moment.

Depends on what you use it for.. a 125 might do everything you want to do, untill you want to go touring (which appart form the varadero is probably going to be torture) or take a passenger and luggage, then going up the cc's make allot more sense..

Biger bikes tend to be allot easyer to ride, more stable, better brakes, and real road presence (easyer to assert your road space..)

some 125s are good at particular things

but I dont think 125's make as good all rounders as big bikes

for example

rs125 great for going for a blast on country roads
cg125 very economical and is ok around town

i think the smallest size bike that would make a good allrounder would be a 250
