Would you report someone if you found out they were on a 'benefit scam' ?

I work.. 25 hours, for a pittance. it's a charity.
My other half works.. in I.T.
We are 'okay' but in the overdraft !! Neutral haha

Now, I have found out some info through another girl at work whose mouth flaps too freely. She said that her 'best friend' L, (who has 2 kids... pregnant with a third, and lives with her partner B), who works in our building is claiming she is a single parent.. working a few hours and getting her top-up benefits.

B works full-time and gets his wage.

My mouth flapping friend claims they cannot afford the 2 kids they have..blah..blah
But they are having a 3rd

I cannot afford the one I have sometimes.
So I won't have more

This whole situation has ticked me off.
I don't want to 'grass', but I feel a tad miffed at the fact she is getting her rent, council tax, etc.. paid and we get into debt to do it.

I am working for her kids !!

I feel SO guilty for wanting to make the call to the DSS, but I think I need to

What would you do ?

Yes. Benefit cheats make life worse for everyone. It's a slap in the face for those of us who work hard to not only provide for ourselves and our families, but also to provide support for those who are less fortunate.

personally i would, i work in peoples houses that are on benifits (and often work part time, cash) and it pisses me off, how good their lifestyle is, i mean, if i was on benifits instead of worklng it'd save a good £600 on household bills!

Also, if you phone, you dont have to give your name

Damn right you should. Benefit fraud costs millions to the tax payer per year, and that directly affects how much you get to take home at the end of the day. She may have 'circumstances', but so does everyone else and if they're too lazy to work like everyone else then why should we pay for it.

Granted there are people that require this kind of benefit and I'm fine with that, but the scumbag scammers can sod off!

go on dob her in , its a crime so doing it = you being a good citizen

*annoyed being low paid and still taxed on me crap pay = me paying for them*

don't be surprised if some magistrate orders her to pay it back via 50p a week which some scumbag round here was ordered to pay , being asked to pay back 50p a week = she got away with it.

No one like a grass. Karma Even if everybody was honest you'd still have to pay taxes. They'll be found out eventually.

Yes you would still pay taxes, but the 1 billion quid per year that benefit fraud costs us would make a difference in everyone's pay packet.

... and another kid on the way, eh? If she needs anything from the state it's free (or maybe compulsory) birth control, not more benefits. Thinking

You really believe that do you? They'd think of another reason to take it from us.

1 Billion quid divided beween the working population. Ooo we'd be about £5 a year better off. Neutral (obviously I haven't worked that out. Wink )

Some people do need to rip the system off to survive. Others are greedy. (Although this does sound like greed to me as they are both working.)

Nothing.

A. It's gossip. You don't know that any of this is true.

B. It's none of your business. Unless it's the £50 reward you are after.

Does this person have huge debts over her/their head? ie. Lose the house type debts? They may be a reason they have turned to this. I'm not saying it's right, but you don't know the circimstances.

I really do think that is the biggest load of bolloc*s I have heard in a long, long time

I tell you what... we live off our overdraft...
shall I take on extra work and not see my kid for a bit, or say my partner has moved out ???

Erm....

What a stupid attitude to have

So, lets just let us skank our money away yeah ?
Ahhh fu*k it...1 billion today..2 billion next year..who gives a sh*t

It's only our money right ?

Let's not have morals
Lets just work our arses off and let the mother fuk*ers bleed us and our kids dry

Good plan

For a fact.. yes, I do know that the facts are true

And, yes, it IS my business
I pay taxes

And, how fuc*ing dare you accuse me of being after the reward

Not all of us are so greedy in life

Some of us are honest and hard-working, and not back-stabbers

Ah well, that is cool then

I won't report the girl then
She may be broke with her benefits and 2 wage income
She may not be able to afford her 3 kids
I can't afford my one, but hey-ho eh ?
The big mouthed fu*ker at work shouldn't have told me, but she did, but I should let it go and pretend I didn't hear it

It's cool

It doesn't matter that she can afford McD's every day whilst I eat salad.
No..that is fine...

I shall go to this lying cheating fu*kin FAT and I mean massive girl tomorrow, hand her my purse and say
"Hey dude...here...go to the chippy and make your arse even fatter you complete waste of your Fathers' sperm and tax payers money"

If this person had robbed you / your kid, and you got wind of it through 'someone else'... is it acceptable to report them then ??

Or should we not interfere ?
